Just got a new phone, and am wondering what the point of a case is really?
http://goincase.com/products/det…
If it doesn't cover the screen, what protection does it offer?
and any recommendations for screen protectors?
These are so cheap:

i personally can't see the point of either. just enjoy your device and run it into the ground. rinse, repeat.

I want a screen protector, but for $00.60, I can't imagine it will last.
- it's gorilla glass. i have an ipod touch i've used every day to and fro work, tossed around, etcprophetone

totally your call, all i know is i see everyone on the train with their iphones wrapped up in these tacky, bulky ass cases that may or may not protect it in the off chance you throw it at the ground. and i think to myself, it's ironic because i bet almost all of them bought the device partly due to its elegance only to hobo it in the end.

Well, maybe... just maybe...
it's a DESIGN FLAW. Don't blame the user.
If millions of people are buying cases to protect these delicate electronic devices, must be for a reason don't you think? No one ever bought a case for this piece of shit:
and if you did, you were probably one of those people that had it on a belt clip on the front, with your shirt only tucked it in the area behind the phone so people can see it.
In that case, you may blame the user.
But a million dollar industry was born when these overly priced, smart phones came around (no cases for blackberry either) and that was born out of necessity.
These phones are expensive as hell, I know a lot of people that said "not me man, I'm not getting a case for my iPhone"
Eventually they dropped it, and broke (if you dropped it and had no scratches then consider yourself lucky, but it's coming believe me).
And if they dropped it without a case, chances are that now got one. Simple as that.
Now, if you are getting a case, you can get something thin that is not bulky and absorbs impact. If you get a hard plastic case, no matter how thick it is, it will conduct impact and your phone will suffer the shock. Think of if like jumping from a 1 storie building with a pair of these on your feet.
I think you would rather be wearing one of those air nike or similar instead wouldn't you?

What you want to do is get yourself a really good case. Then get yourself another case. Make sure the second case is slightly larger so it fits over top of the first case. Can't be too safe.

I have a wooden bamboo iphone case/protector thingy that looks nice. tight to the form of the phone. It is on there so tight I am unsure I can take it off anymore.
