Yeah, read quite a bit about, still don't know what to think now that all these revelations about Tor's security are coming out.
- CableStudios1
don't think they relate to TOR, but the more I read about the project the more mind blown i get. Looks like you can only buy "ether" with bitcoin.

Ether is a necessary element -- a fuel -- for operating the distributed application software platform we are building: ethereum.
What does that mean?
- futuremongolian0
it's essentially the bit coining of everything. Block chains instead of servers, taking out the middleman and surveillance.
I THINK>>>???

Ok, I just watched this. Now I'm totally impressed!

should we all buy some ether and sit on it? just incase?
- rabbit0
I bought in at 80c USD and it has since tripled :D
I do truly believe in the technology, I am a web developer and can fully see the business case for this technology.
Also, helps that the world banks are getting interested by it, and are already actively working with it :))

It is now the 2nd largest crypto by market cap

I use this bad boy to convert my btc to usd:
https://shapeshift.io/Done some fairly large transactions and all have worked out perfectly.
Here is my ETH wallet in case you are interested.
https://www.etherchain.org/accou…In order to 'spend' my balance, and to actually even have a wallet, you need to d/l the entire blockchain, then generate a new wallet.
ethereum.org is a good place to start learning.
Let me know if you have any questions.
I also have setup an AWS cloud mining rig, at the time a price of 80c USD it was not economically viable to continue, I was mining one block about every 24-48hrs and the running cost was $) USD/day.
If the price goes up though, I will be ready...but if the price goes up I assume the difficulty level will as well for mining.
However, ETH does not allow for the crazy mining that is allowed by commercial miners within the Bitcoin landscape, so it should stay failry competitive even for mum and pop miners....

You guys should really look at buying some ether.
I bought at <$1 and am now enjoying 10 fold returns.
DAO tokens have just been announced, we are seeing another pop in the price of Ether.
https://www.coingecko.com/en/pri…
DAO tokens (daohub.org) currently cost 1 eth / 100 tokens.
Owners of DAO tokens will eventually receive reqards based in their initial investment, every time a lock is opened using slock.it on airbnb etc.
This is a new paradigm guys, I would highly suggest you at least consider it.
I expect the price of ether to go to at LEAST the equivalent of BTC. At LEAST.

Where's a good place to buy Bitcoin from?
I'm going to buy 1 ether, crazy motherfucking gambler that I am.

it says you can make your own currency using this. this true?
can you use a blockchain concept for other purposes other then currency?
- That's the point if ethereum, from the little I can understand - leveraging blockchains for whatever you can imaginedetritus
- Of course yuri. Block chain is used for lots of things beside currency. It's being ingrained in private financials as we speak.monospaced
- For example entire nations can use it and avoid banks or where banks aren't even available. Private equity is starting to do the same here.monospaced
- Thanks going to look into this. this something i was looking for, this is renaissance making stuff.yurimon
