    I saw an offensive and/or child-inappropriate advertisement appearing on CartoonNetwork.com. Why is this?

    We at CartoonNetwork.com make it our first priority to provide your child with a fun and rewarding online experience. We appreciate and share your concern about inappropriate advertisements on our Web site and have strict policies regarding the advertising we display.

    Unfortunately, it has been brought to our attention that some of our users have become victims of third-party software commonly referred to as "spyware." Internet users can unknowingly install spyware while downloading new software, add-ons or updates through the Internet.

    Spyware is a type of data collection program that gathers information about your Internet use and relays it to advertisers and other interested parties. Additionally, some spyware programs can adversely affect the user's computer performance and display unwanted advertisements and pop-up windows during Internet use.

    Many of these programs are very sophisticated in making their unwanted ads appear to be part of a regular Web site. This is likely what has happened to your computer while you were viewing CartoonNetwork.com.

    In order to remove spyware, a software application such as Ad-Aware or Spybot is necessary. More information about anti-spyware programs for Windows is available through the Microsoft Web site.

    Once again, it is very important to us that CartoonNetwork.com be fun and safe environment for everyone. We continue to monitor the ads Cartoon Network approves for display on its Web site to ensure that they are appropriate for our visitors, and we invite you to contact us if you have any additional concerns.
