Ouch, Terminator Dark Fate bombing at the box office. Set to lose $130M

    • i'm intending to offset a tiny part of that loss.hans_glib
    • Ironically imo b/c series was known for amazing practical effects, then they CG’d overloaded it into a yawnfest, don’t feel connected to itprophetone
    • Sort of amazing they don’t see that and go all out w/ CG anywayprophetone
    • Ready Player One was all CG and it killed it. Blame the franchise being utter shit for the last 20 years. Not the special effects.monospaced
    • agreed. Its failing because the stories after T2 sucked, not the imageryrobotinc
    • In the next one terminator will be sent back in time to kill all the writersscruffics
    • sure story too, fair, but one look at the new trailer w/ the goopy not great CG, I was OUT... if it were mostly practical or if CG was sprinkled on then okprophetone
    • it's the lazy out and none of the great movies rely on 99% CG - could you imagine ALIENS done in all CG? thank god it wasn'tprophetone
    • Ready Player One gets a pass b/c it's 99% video game approach. New T movie is all outside in the sun in real, gritty environments, CG not great as overlayprophetone
    • I would rather see some clunky practical effects as adds charm, T1/T2 perfect examplesprophetone
    • maybe my opinion on this belongs in the signs ur getting old thread. also, get off my lawn.prophetone
    • haven't watched this one. but last one they made time travel even more confusing....pango
    • it's much simpler, this is missing https://youtu.be/2x5…api
    • Terminator was a decent B-Movie. It's a bit like Predator in that the universe doesn't need Terminator 10 sequels.PhanLo
    • maybe it's time that instead of an T5000x a future Axel is coming from the future and is killing it!api
    • Both Terminator and Predator are masterpieces.inteliboy
    • Ready Player One killed it?!!? How exactly?Maaku
    • @scruffics LOFL. That would actually be amazing. Skynet sends terminators back to kill the bad writers, and the bad writers are desperately trying to..garbage
    • ..literally write themselves out of a corner. That could save the franchise.garbage
    • Me and my girl watching from the beginning gettin ready.. please don't take out of theaters yet lolBrokenHD
    • Torrents still kill movies.teh
    • Ready Player One killed it at the box office. It killed in streaming rentals and kills in physical disc purchases. It’s still killing it. :)monospaced
    • Not saying it was a good movie. It was absolute rubbish. But it killed. Terminator sequel was good, but the next one killed it. It’s been dead ever since.monospaced
    • As in, killed the franchise. Bad choice of words. More of the same and a stupid gimmick with an old man isn’t appealing.monospaced
    • public is tired of watching dystopian shit, to much dystopia going on irl.
ppl want to see utopian sci fi movies.

    • ^ like?pango
    • Arrival?...based on a chinese short story...
don't know, I guess amazing stories still need to be written

    • The Bladerunner remake was pretty successful. Just think the Terminator universe isn't that interesting. The future being a mystery is fine. Don't need to see..PhanLo
    • ... it. Similar with Predator, over explain in the predator backstory ruins the mystery.
10 year old me would have loved 1000 sequels though.
      PhanLo
    • *Bladerunner sequel. That wasn't a remake, that was an an artful continuation.garbage
    • BladeRunner 2049 was pretty amazing as a sequel.monospaced
    • Blade Runner 2049 didn't break even at box office and "bombed". 150M + ad budget didn't equal $260M worldwide take.

It was the best IMAX experience I've had.
      evilpeacock
    • @evilpeacock I am very jealous. What's it like to hold the hand of someone you love? Interlinked.garbage
