Julian Lennon to auction NFT of Paul McCartney’s notes for Hey Jude
    https://www.theguardian.com/musi…

Other Beatles memorabilia including outfits and guitars to be sold as non-fungible tokens by John Lennon’s son.

Bidding for the notes starts at $30,000 (£22,267), with buyers told: “This NFT is a one of one edition of the physical item and does not include the physical item.” It does, however, come with an “exclusive audio narration” by Julian Lennon.

The idea of NFTs is that buyers become the owner of a unique digital item, rather than the unique physical item.

    • Who's to say he wont sell more NFTs of the notes down the line. Or if he sells the notes, someone else releases as an NFT.microkorg
    • I'd been considering getting a Hokusai NFT from British Museum/LaCollection as I'm a huge fan of his works. But didn't buy for the above reason.microkorg
    • If there's a physical of something being sold as an NFT then it should either be offered as part of the sale or destroyed after the NFT sale. I feel, anyway.microkorg
    • And that's where Hirst's 'The Currency' makes sense. Choose: NFT or Physical. Both cannot exist.microkorg
    • I always ask myself: What would Hirst do?palimpsest
    • Picasso family cash-grab.

    • It's not a cash-grab, it's advancing art.palimpsest
    • @micro that would be against everything NFTs stand for. NFTs were never supposed to include anything except a receipt. Suckers.monospaced
    • They should not come with anything except a charge, the artist should be able to sell it repeatedly and always keep the original and associated rights.monospaced
