People use Windows because Mac is a small, fringe platform for people who have trouble with email attachments and finding USB drives they plugged in.

Macs are 'simple' because they have abstracted away all of their utility in favour of a single screen, with a small collection of brightly coloured buttons. MacOS is a desktop environment where, to the average user, if it doesn't appear on the desktop it does not exist. It was made for primary-school age children because that was historically their largest market.

About its only saving grace is that it has a linux terminal, which is why dev's like it for remoting into cloud instances. But Windows has a linux terminal now too.

    • Windows has a Linux VM you can enable. So, it's a bit more than just a terminal. And, it's actually pretty great for a local dev environment.section_014
