i'm new to skating, and want to buy this board. i'm just not sure about the hardware, though.
it says it has "31"x8" Double-Kick Canadian Maple
with fun4u Grindwheel-Trucks,
6000er-Ball-Bearings and Megawheels"is this good?
or should i just get the deck and get different hardware?

Runs with OSX?

no
buy a Stereo™ or Real™ board with indy or thunder trucks and some decent wheels...
the graphics are cool though.

links?
- niku0
stereo? they haven't been around for a while.
don't forget to support the local skateshops! any deck you get from a skateshop is going to be good., and they should be able to set you straight on what you need.
- Fload0
go into a store step on a few untill u find one thats comfortable try to stick with brands u have heard of decks usually havent been sitting in the sun waiting to be sold and delaming if theyre popular, as for wheels cant go wrong with spitfires and trucks indys or venture lo's

yeah, i'll hit my local skateshop tomorrow.
i've decided to get a black blank deck and put my own graphics on it.
is there a brand of blanks that is really good?
- Fload0
most blanks are now made by media same with the local skate shop deck but when it comes to blanks theyre pretty much the lowest of low.. and as for the graphic ... are you going to ride the board or hang it on the wall cause if your going to skate it the graphic will be gone in a few days
- scarabin0
yeah, that's what i'm saying.
why spend the cash for a pretty board when i'd fuck it up anyway.
better to just slap my own scarabin.net stickers or stencils on it.
- scarabin0
so blanks are the "lowest of low"?
they don't ride well, or are shittily made, or what?
- lee_b0
don't Powel make blanks now?
i've got a blank actually, been thinkin of getting a gonz krooked board thoughto go on bit of a tangent, i've just started snowboarding. i wanna get my own set-up which isn't crazy expensive, i'm thinking of getting a burton Indy board.
thoughts? help?

good luck - and enjoy it!
lee_b: what sort of boarding do you want to do?
- lee_b0
i only just read the bottom of first post. i didn't realise that Gieger thing was a full set up. i'd stay away, i don't think you'd find one of those at any decent skateshop.nasty

there's a indoor snow park not too far a drive from me. i'll be mostly riding that. i'm getting straight jumping at the moment, just learning to ride fakie, but i should be on the jump ramp and rails soon enough.
- lee_b0
yeah, nitro's look cool.
5,11 / 12 stone (168 pounds)
this is what i was thinking
http://www.burton.com/gear/pr_bo…what do you reckon to second hand boards/demo boards?
- jevad0
demo boards are usually fine - only been ridden a few times - check 2nd hand for flex, chips, and gouges...
I wouldn't go smaller than a 154 if I were you!
- lee_b0
i was thinking 156/158 anyway. i was more worried about stuff like the base, i'd heard of some boards being pretty unsuitable for rails and stuff like that, just scratching real easy.
- phs0
just learn how to ollie before worrying about graphics and set ups. And especially if you are learning id talk to someone who has bought decks for a while. Who could tell you that a girl will snap in 2 weeks, a black label has odd concave and that an alien has a nice shape. Things like truck weight are important too, and don't call it a jump ramp :P good luck.
- lee_b0
i was talking about snowboards (the thread kinda got changed by me). it wasn't me buying the gieger deck.
what else would you call a jump ramp?
been riding bmx for about 15 years, maybe jump ramp is a bmx thing
- IRNlun60
if you're going to ride rails on your snowboard, you might wanty to get another board for park or trail.
rail riding really messes up your board. but its oh so fun.
- lilbabyleg0
damn stereo is gone? I bought those boards exclusively... so sad.
