my client is a small-time model/actor who wants a portfolio site (i'm designing it for him).
he wants me to put armani logos on some of his shots, despite them not being shot for, or being even remotely connected to, armani.
can i get nailed for this if i do it for him?

I wouldn't expect it to be much of an issue if he's small time, but it wouldn't hurt to get something in writing that frees you from any shit that happens to get stirred up.
I don't know, but that guy sounds like a bit of a wanker to me.

Id say so yes. He is saying that he has modeled for armani and he hasnt.

I would seriously watch that one man, especially if he is trying to market himself to people within that same industry. No offense, but duhhhhh?? ;)

This is trademark infringement not copyright infringement isn't it?
And he is the infringer not you... You are just editing images and creating a site to his brief... how are you meant to know if he worked for/with Armani? It's not your area of responsibility.
Of course you have to think about the ethics/business implications...
