blog review:
locust: your note on children dying on the last page is spot on. it affects parents in a very deep way. the same, i think, is the empathy for children who lose their parent(s) at a very young age. it suddenly touches a nerve you didn't realize you had.
i enjoyed pursuit of happyness though i generally dislike will smith. it never really rose above a hollywood cliche, but at the time in my life when i saw it, i had just become a single father (having been shit on by my ex) and it held a sentimentality that was comforting.
i admit i never gave pi much of a chance, but i didn't like what i saw of it. his other stuff is excellent, but i've just had much of an urge to give it another go.

Watching Religulous now. It's not finished yet, and it's already one of my favourite films of 2008.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0815…- Bill Maher's snide-ness makes me shy away from this movie, which i otherwise would have wanted to seelocustsloth
- It was hilarious.Jaline
- Bill M is substantially less arrogant... possibly even tolerable in this film... worth a watch.NotByHand
- "less than normal" I mean, of course.NotByHand
- The ending is very 'over the top', and unfitting imo, but I really enjoyed it otherwise.NotByHand
- Snide?? I thought the message of the film is that NOBODY has all the answers?waterhouse

i just watched all but 20min of "Miss Potter". It was really good, despite Ewan McGregor's fake-looking mustache and the fact that Rene Zellwiger was in it. The animated drawings really enhanced the movie. The end got too sad for my wife to continue watching.

Good night.

Got some more movies over with while I still have time.
Watched Revolutionary Road. Brilliant.
Kate Winslet better get an Oscar this time. I only watched this movie because she was in it. I think she's going to have around 7 nominations by the time the show airs, and she has never won. DiCaprio was wonderful too. One of his best roles.
- This comment is spot-on:

http://www.imdb.com/…Jaline - Now I have to go watch The Reader because, apparently, her acting in that film is better. How?? I wonder.Jaline
- Ever see that episode of Extras where she whined about never winning an Oscar?waterhouse

aw, ed... :(
sorry you're not feeling well...and sorry you went through that scary moment. :( I can sort of sympathize... i have shitty heart and need to have open-heart surgery in the next 10 years as I don't get enough oxygenated blood to my brain... kind of like you - I get exceptionally weak to the point of collapsing from time to time (like fainting... but because I can't see or breathe too well when my heart decides to trip out on me)...
... funny you brought up the smoking - I actually smoked as much as I said for the last few years but too have cut back and actually wish to quit completely because of... well.. duh. :)
Feel better, man and perhaps get yourself to a doctor for a once-over... wish i could do more, man :( hehe... feel better and sleep well - i will mention you in my prayers too. :)

I have a ton of respect for all you snowboarders out there. I'm still unbelievably sore from yesterday in muscles I had only ever seen in text books. Plus when I landed on my head I was none too pleased. I need to take lessons because I'm going to Tahoe in a month . . .

LUCKYomgitsacamera - I know what you mean. I like snowboarding but I haven't grasped it yet. My tail bone hurts like a bitch for days after.Jaline

wow...some people do not deserve the ability to post notes on fb..
MF
Today at 2:28Facebook:
- difficult to navigate
- everyones profile is the same
- people post way too many pictures
- people have made it mandatory to be on facebook, because thay have lost all other communication skills
- application adds
- stupid group adds
- stupid event adds
- everyone can see everyone you talk to and everything you do
- people lurk way too muchMyspace:
- easy to use
- people see what you want them to see
- you can make your profile exactly how you want it to show who you are
- blogs and bulletinsBasically, comparing facebook to myspace is like comparing... something lame to something awesome. who's with me?
- janne760
i just canceled a thread.
i saved you from a bit more of nonsense.
one day i will get the noble prize for this.
- locustsloth0
So facebook is for actual interpersonal communication with people who would not normally be included in your life, but whom you wish to include (plus some do-dads that sometimes further said communication)
and myspace is the equivalent of a teenager's bedroom; loud, covered with band and movie posters, messy and designed to show what the user wants to be or, often, erroneously perceives themselves to be, regardless of what measure of truth lies within- I think Facebook includes many people you know in real life or knew, whereas MySpace has more bands and random ppl...Jaline
- At least for me, that's the case. I have actually met at least half of my "friends" on Facebook.Jaline
- I don't even know if you're talking about whether or not the "friends" are your real friends. Never mind.Jaline
- i was. i operate much the same way, only befriending people i've met. Though i've made some exceptionslocustsloth
- I have no myspace or fb = I have no friends.Jnr_Madison
