We had a little party with 6-7 ppl, everybody left around 6-7am and now I can't sleep. Also thanks for using glass what can survive a fall on a stoned floor for the Jack Daniel's bottle.

On this day 2011 – Adbusters organized a protest against corporate influence on democracy at Zuccotti Park in New York City that became known as Occupy Wall Street.

A 4.3 earthquake hit about 45 minutes ago with an epicenter about two miles from my house. Shit flew off the walls, glass broke, bookshelves tottered, aquarium sloshed. We got packed and ready to evacuate because the horizon lit up orange from fires at a refinery also just a couple miles from my house...

Thankfully i heard on the radio the fires are part of an emergency precaution and we’re safe. Man, i was ready to beat cheeks and lose everything.

Two things were going through my head- this is what it was like for the people at pompeii, and I am waaay too high for a natural disaster right now

Why have transparent screens been a consistant element in sci-fi for the last 25 years? No one wants those, it's a stupid concept.

In the Early 2000's we had to deal with mobile devices going off, kids crying, people yelling at the screen, etc... In the Mid 2000's we had to deal with sporadic mass gun shootings at theaters. And now we live in the age of Covid.

How many people here, plan on going back to see movies on the big screen in the near future?

It's insane how beautiful, stylish and well-cast high-end TV has become, after the *MEGACORPORATIONS* started pouring septillions into the productions. Jesus, the production value of some of these shows. The distinction between TV and film is virtually gone.

    ^^^ per the SSL thingy.

I usually run linux servers, but I have a couple windows vm's that vendors needed to install their applications on. Every one of them stopped auto-updating the certificates recently. And, that was after auto-updating for a few years.

Not sure what QBN is hosted on, or how the certs are setup, but thought I'd post this in case it applies. I'm using something called WACS to do the letsencrypt stuff behind the scenes on IIS. Had an older version which I updated. But, I'm not sure if that fixed it or not.

I thought I'd share this tale with you as I responded to a 'Ever Foiled a Crime' thread in another forum. I was working in a hardware store years ago (anyone remember Shergolds?) I was trying to fix the staff loo as it wouldn't flush, so I stood on the seat and lifted the cistern top and found a package of bank notes (about £200) wrapped in a polythene bag stuffed inside. Thinking that someone must have been on the fiddle in the store which only had 4 employees and so I quietly rang head office who advised me to put it back, go home as usual and say nothing but not to come in the following day.
So the day after that when I went into work the 2 other sales assistants were all excited as they said the police had been in the previous day and arrested the manager in the shop and led him out in handcuffs as it turned out he had been nicking stuff for months not only from the till but taking shit loads of things like drills and resalable electrics which had been found filling up his garage at home. I was promoted to assistant manager for my efforts but within months the shop/company went bust and the building became an amusement arcade.

    • I should add, it also turned out the manager was the son of the owner of the company Big Boss Shergold himself!Gardener
    • Can't believe you grassed him up to his dad.

I just rewatched the James Brown movie, "Get On Up" starring Chadwick Boseman and was dying to see the original performance referenced in the film. This clip to me is so amazing, the showmanship, the soulfulness, the over-the-top of it all, the hype man with the cape, the backing dancers, the groove of a simple R&B riff, the audience reaction.
And then the Rolling Stones had to come on stage and follow this! I've watched this a few times now and it's dynamite.
