I liked it too, Dan. All the negatives reviews just made me wanna see it and come to my own conclusion.
Def better than Unbreakable and on par with Signs. Sixth is still the best.

Saw it yesterday - i liked it - he is such a subtle fillmaker and that makes you use your imagination while you are watching the film - some of the dialouge was crap, but visually it was amazing. I thought the ending was cool.

i will not see it, not going for any hype, and i actually never seen any of his movies yet...
if anyone wants to email me the 'gimmic ending' pls do so thanks in advance

This movie was my second sunner dissappointment. The first one was Irobot thee absolute corniest movie this year......and I dont know about those of you that have seen The Village but it was so predictable.....its goona be hard for me to trust Shamalayn again.

sixth sense was a joke. not funny or intellectual or whatever it was going for. i can say for sure that, that haley joel osmond character just ruined the film for me. "i see dead people" made me wanna walk out of the theatre. too corny. donnie wahlbergs cameo was the only thing the film had going for it, and that only lasted a minute or two. it was actually a few years later that i found out it was him that played that role. now that, my friends, is creepy!

I enjoyed it.

Hey all -
Just saw it this afternoon. I must admit, I'm a big film fan and also a big fan of M. Night.
Personally, I thought this was his best film yet. Very mature and everything fit neatly into place.
Don't go with any pre-conceived notions, forget about good/bad reviews and forget if there is a plot twist. Just watch it and let it take you where it does. I think you'll enjoy it.

One more thing (told you i was a geek) - watch out for two sequences:
1: When Adrian Brody enters a house with Joaquim Phoenix
2: When Ron Howards daughter enters a house through an already open door.
The cinematography on these two scenes is absolutely breathtaking.
(If you've seen it - you'll know what I mean)

In a thread so full of hatin' - I'm glad to report that I saw it before having an opinion and really, really enjoyed it.
Nearly every previous post makes comparisons to his other films "If Mr. Glass was just 2 inches taller I would have liked Unbreakable a lot more" pssssshhhh

Saw it last night, loved it.
Shammalammadingdong, once again.

Saw it just this evening, thought it was great. I like that kind of suspense. The ending really surprised me, but it's interesting how a group of people would choose a life like that in modern times.
And I so want to be that costume for halloween! Someone get to work for me!

eh... the last one of his was very bad. this looks lame too.

this movie sucks
it looks nice, some of the acting is good, but it still sucks. The story is flat, and this is the 4 time he has used the same movie trick ending.

I walked out of that film feeling like someone just kicked me in the balls...
... I've been icing my stones down for the last 24 hours...
... just when I was able to walk again - I saw this thread. Now I must inject my nuts w/morphine.
Yes - this movie was terrible - Sitting through it is like being raped by a kitten - you could easily make it stop - but it's so soft, fuzzy and warm that for some reason... you just sit there and take it - but in the end... it sucked.
I'm going to click 'broadcast live' now.

his movies suck.
but the point of his movies he is trying to get through are good.

y'all are being a bit harsh.
if you want to see a truly sucky movie, go see soul plane.
I thought 'Village' was beautifully shot, very moody and eery. The stilted english they were speaking was a bit hard to take, joaquin phoenix was completely dull and there were the usual gaps in logic that shyamalan should be able to patch better. (there were WAY too many people there for 7 families, where do they get hardware from if nobody leaves etc). The main problem is that everybody now expects some surprise ending from him, and he's clearly straining to come up with one. He should just drop the fricking gimmick and just make movies, he's got a good eye for it.

I know alot of people hated SIGNS but I liked it. What I got from it was reinforcement of the old saying "Everything happens for a reason". The water glasses all over, the kid with asthma. Sure, the basic storyline on the surface was elementary but sometimes you have to look at the underlying message. That's my opinion and I'm sticking too it.
My kid saw the Village friday night...she liked it. Not sure if I want to go see it, but I can't decide if I want to spoil it first....
