Client / contract trouble

So I cancel a contract with a client of mine because they are being twats. The hours I worked for them came to about £400 but as a gesture of good will I let them off. Now they are asking for their £240 deposit back. The contract I had them sign did state that if I cancel the contract all hours worked will be paid. Do they have any case?? Help

does it mention anything about the deposit in the contract? if it does and says they get it back then no oyu don't if it says you don't give it back you can keep it if it doesn't make anymention of the deposit then an argument will ensue Good luck.

The contract doesn't mention anyting about getting a deposet back. But I have worked much more than the deposit is worth and it does say that if the contract is cancelled all hours worked shall be paid. Still they don't seem to understand.

Just send them an invoice for hours worked, and minus the deposit. So:
50/h * 8 hrs = 400
Deposit = -250
Payment due = $150the math should clear things up right away. If they still want the deposit, send another invoice for 400 and say they can get the deposit back when paid in full. Some clients are idiots...

dont tell you cant afford it chimp and if they front you stay cool. I would be very suprised if they toke you to court for 240

No tfamiliar with UK standars, but sounds like they got nuthin on ya.
Remember, the numero uno point to getting a deposit is to have some labor cost covered in the event someone backs out. The deposit is your insurance policy sort of.
