AIGA is dope. i have been a member on and off for years and done several design events for them. designed a site, event print materials, org'd an event, etc.

So one site in 7 years?
I'm assuming it's not good for actual work then..

Rand, do the Aigia talk then just stand there the whole time reading random posts from the blog thread. Then at the end read fate_'s farewell speech as your own.

i say it is worth it for the networking you get out of it, the jobs postings, and cool discounts on things like drugs, hookers and entourage paraphenalia.
ok, not the drugs ;)

The thieves in the temple have made vandalism the new religion, by pissing in the holy places and turning pens into swords.

hey Rand ... where do you work?

as a business owner it is also good. the supposed leaders in the field assemble to steal ideas from one another.
i think rand foregathers.

Your money might be better spent joining local adclubs for freelance and contract stuff. AIGA is more peer networking.

MIA is way better..

the biggest benefit of this organization that i can determine is if you move to a new city and don't know anyone in the field you can volunteer .. you're then granted membership .. and get some contacts. otherwise it's a lot of smoke blowing up the rears.

most people i know have an agency membership that is paid for. if you're active, the individual one seems like itd be good for picking up freelance work.

i'm a member in san diego, and was a member in both philly and nyc when i lived on the east coast. definitely depends on the chapter, but nyc and san diego were well worth it.

yeah, what's the real world benefit to joining? I've looking at joining in the past but wasn't sure if it was worth the cost...
- Meeklo0
I thought of joining as well, but then again I'm not sure what for..
I give them money, what do I get in return? Do you get work out of it?
