just gave my 2 weeks notice. i am so bad at doing stuff like that. it was kind of nerve-wracking but at least its done with. Now I just need to sit around and work while everybody talks about it behind my back.

it'd be worse if they weren't saying a thing about it.

depending on where you work and what type of a company it may be, be prepared to be 'let go' on friday.
some places do that to gain the upper hand and keep you from doing nothing for a full two weeks, and/or taking with you company info.
doesn't happen all that often but it does happen.

what you gonna do?
freelance or moving to another company or going to do something completely different?

k0na - I am definitely prepared for that. on one hand i secretly hope it happens so i can get a week off before i start my new gig. on the flip side i could really use that extra week's pay because the future is a little more uncertain.
i'm going to be working as an independent contractor 25 hrs a week for this girl I know. She has been a freelance web designer for the past 5 or 6 years and is opening up a little studio to try to expand her business. It was an opportunity i couldn't pass up, but money will be tight until i nail down one or two decent freelance jobs of my own on the side. exciting but uncertain times ahead!

i think legally they have to pay you for the full two weeks you gave notice for, but, they may eat the week and let you go early. by law i think they have to pay you.
good luck either way!

Good luck, I've tried my luck a little this morning by asking if I can work from home or I'll leave.
I guess I'll find out later in the week but I'm not hugely hopeful.
Still, I'm willing to take a chance because a 3+ hour commute each day isn't what I'm really looking for.
