belive it or not this is legit question. I'm looking to buy a laptop and need to concider y best options. What i'm looking for is something very portable small and light but fast. Much of my software is PC so i'm leaning to PCs but can concider both. ALso i'm looking to spend no more than $2000.

say what you will about windows vs osx, mac laptops are far superior to anything else out there.

you can have a decent dell for half that, if you're ready to brave the intel-mac, you've got the budget to do it.
personally i believe both are equal competitors as they "compute"
though a pc for equal budget will have better stats
ie screen size, ram, etc.

i've never seen a review where another laptop is prefered over an apple laptop.

i find Mac to be a bit user UN-friendly, still i'm looking for best small/light/price combo.

the key to a good computer:
all the buttons work, and you can see the screen clearly
after that, it's really up to the user to exploit or put the cpu to use for whatever work you will be doing

i was a big pc guy till last year. bought my first G5 just for music, then last month got sick of all the issues with my crazy fast PC that i personally built (probably the problem) and just picked up a mac pro. still looking for a dvd cloning software that matches pc's "any dvd / clone dvd" but other than that, lovin the mac.

i have a Macbook Pro. 15 inch.
Very portable.
Very Fast. and I dual boot it with OSX and XP.
Macbook Pros are great machines.
Also, look in the SALE area on the SHOP page on apple.com. Down the page on the right of hte shop page
You can get referbs there that are really good prices.. and most referbs are just returns. my last 2 laptopls havebeen referbs from apple.com. Same warrent, software etc.

I prefer PCs but that's because I've been using them far more often throughout my life. I agree with v4 to an extent that it also depends on how one plans on using the machine.

I have a Toshiba Satellite 2.3ghz and 15" screen that i bought 3 years ago. It runs like butter. I also built my desktop pc. Wicked fast.
That said, i think the biggest issue with pcs is that everybody and their mother is making software/drivers for them. Especially on the music production side. This means that you will (at least once, just to get it over with) install some crap "upgrade" that will that will ruin your day or week.
My MAC friends are constantly talking sh*t, but i dig my PCs.

uh, minus one "that will"
(damn PC)
