I need a FireWire drive that i can hook up to PC and easily transfer files and then to Mac...
WOuld any drive work?
- MrD0
yes but you need to format the drive so that it is not only for Mac
only caution is that character space and symbol are not consistent with Mac file system
so you will get alot of file name errors as you copy it on to HD

format it as fat32 and you're safe.
or as mac HFS, but then you need to buy macdrive for windows (software) to be able to access it

will fat32 work both with Mac/PC?
- MrD0
yes
but you will have file naming issues and also hidden files

shouldn't have file naming issues on the drive
dragging from the mac to the drive with like a ' " or / in the name might make it complain, so just rename it before you copy it
the mac won't have problems with winders filenames
i recommend western digital mybook

windows and mac has different character limit on file names
also, some special characters on mac cant be copied as file name
hidden files in mac are visible in windows which will give you some headache since it contains special characters
also, extensions, make sure its there
and finally the spaces between words in file name
windows handles it but it gives you %20 when you copy it over

there is a thing you can install on a mac to keep it from doing the stupid hidden dot file thing
it's got blue in the name
mrd is right, you gotta make it stop that
