so I've got a Flash banner running on a blog which is very poorly set up for handling banners. I had to manually embed the file, which is working fine, but I lost the link functionality that was built directly into the .swf. No ClickTag or anything here... anybody know how I can get the damn link working?
Raw hosted .swf file is here with working link:
http://www.futuristo.com/clients…And the placed and size-controlled version is here at the top of the page – linky not working:
http://www.ride-strong.comI don't know how you programmers do it. Thanks in advance!

eh, strange. anybody have any idea what's behind the inconsistencies? I'm riding the guy that designed the blog for some sort of better system for running ads, but who knows if that will ever happen. my only thought is that there's something with the way it was embedded? or maybe I could add in an additional link to the coding so that the placed .swf links as on object, independently of the built in .swf link?
this shouldn't be my problem on this dude's blog, but what can you do. thanks again guys.

i have opera 9 and safari beta 3 for win xp and its not working in those either... so far i can only get it to work from IE7
the rollover works just fine but it doesnt take you anywhere... i'm getting the little pointer cursor for the whole banner, not just for the "learn more" button... dont know, your swf by itself works just fine in all browsers... its probably html gnomes... drink more, that should fix it
i usually have to come back later and thats when im like... oh fuck is that all it was?

do you have flash installed for ff?
- blastofv0
Hm, yeah, I'm all geared up with Flash, and I'm hearing similar things from all sorts of (fully flash-playerified) people I've run this by.
And yeah, I have the AS linking from both that black button as well as from a banner-wide hidden button...so the whole thing should link, nomatter where it's clicked.

Tried clearing your cache? Maybe you gots an old version with no links. My mac, 10.3 FF, is linking fine
- joyride0
also, how are you linking it? getURL() right?
- stupidresponse0
could it be an issue with player version?
- blastofv0
I'm thinking it must be a player version thing, yeah, except I don't know how to work that out. I pulled a Flash embed script from someone's tutorial on working around Dreamweaver's Flash embed crappiness, but it could be outdated... maybe this line is causing the trouble? it's looking for Flash player 7, which I thought would be a good safe bet:
codebase="http://download.macrom...
So it embeds successfully, but I don't know what half of the script means. I can post the whole script if that'd help...

let me try that again:
codebase="http://download.macrom...
cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7...
- blastofv0
ends with:
/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0"
- stupidresponse0
i think codebase attribute is just the lowest player version that won't prompt an update in IE
