Anyone know how to run this? I cant seem to figure out a quick way to make a small dot pattern to fill an object.

what have you tried so far?

Good question. I'm interested in this too.

go to edit/define pattern and create the pattern tile. then use the Pattern Stamp Tool to fill the shape.

fill grey, make halftone pattern?
- _salisae_0
make your pattern, select the object you want to fill and then edit > fill the object with the pattern
really easy.

ive tried make halftone pattern but its not consistent distance or size dots.. its more of a pattern fill than a halftone.. check out the main pager here for a good idea of what i would like to make.. http://dysplasii.com/ check out the rest of his work too .. its way fresh! but yeah hes using the dots too..

it might even be screen magic.. not sure if there is any real way to do it?
- did you try making your pattern, selecting the object you want to fill and then edit > fill the object with the pattern?_salisae_

I must know... this has pissed me off so much in the past, I've always just resorted to doing it by hand.

just fill the type with approx 20-30% solid grey and bitmap/halftone.
the light grey will space dots wider, as per your sample.
adjust your dot size accordingly (may take a few tests) and angle @ 90° for the same pattern as shown.

draw a circle, fill with black, stroke of none. draw a square around it, fill and stroke of none. Align Centre vertical and horizontal. Drag it onto your swatches palette, then fill your object with that swatch. To increase or decrease the size of the pattern, or rotate it within the object, double-click the scale or rotate tools and make sure Patterns is checked and Objects is unchecked in the options panel. If you want to edit the pattern, eg, make the dots red, drag the swatch onto your page, direct select the circle, make it red, then option-drag the whole thing on top of the original swatch on your swatches palette.
Hope this helps. I only read the top post, so sorry if i have repeated.

.make your patterns from black/white pixels
.create shapes / text with antialiasing turnes off
.fill them with your pattern
.safety: put a threshold-layer ontop while working to ensure antialiaslessness

there's more than one way to skin a catfish, i suppose
- lifterBARON0
yeah...
horton has the closest solution i think.. but its gonna take some time to dial it all.. and i am left with the grayscale hurdle.. (because of bitmapping)
- invisiblechamber0
only with patterns based on single-pixels dots you can be sure it won't be spoiled at the edges.
clean - only full dots: http://dysplasii.com
cut dots: http://www.flickr.com/photos/598…- good point. i forgot about that. simplify. simplify._salisae_
