"A UK-based company called ThruVision has launched a camera which they say -- can see concealed threat items under clothing from a range of 25 meters.
Called the T5000 passive terahertz imaging system, the camera can image both metallic and non-metallic threat objects, including explosives, liquids, narcotics, weapons, plastics, and ceramics hidden under clothing on still or moving subjects without revealing any body detail. "

'New security camera promises to protect, not reveal your body parts.'
Total waste of time then.

It will only see through some clothes. The basic principle is that it exposes itself to different wavelengths of light, of which common materials have no pigment and are therefore see-through. For example, with good infrared lighting an infrared camera will not see cotton clothing. The camera above is a CCD which naturally recognizes infrared. In Japan, the national swim team changed the material of their suits to combat this. So you're privacy isn't completely gone people :)
I assume this system never shows the original image without first running it through the software that 'hides body detail and exposes threats'.

I guess I better stop tucking my manhood under myself and walking around like the guy out of silence of lambs now.
