NO - but... (there's always a but)If you're in college or university, the more internships you have the better. It shows that you've got a lot of experience and was also able to balance out a school, professional and personal life at the same time.
However, if you've got two or three after you graduate and they aren't long term, that might send the wrong signal.
I had three under my belt before I graduated and then ended up turning one into a job.
Don't work for free unless you really have to. :-)
- thanks for this balanced response. and maybe i am just anxious, i wont panic until may.
pantoneprincess - it could be they have not done call backs already.pantoneprincess

Olli is right. I hadn't noticed until now that you are still in college. I demand to see a portfolio of work so that ye shall be judged upon the graces of the masses.
Also, moar nudes plix.

George youve never heard of a paid internship? Wow, what school did you go to? Our school encourages us to never do free internships. If you look at my past posts you will see I was asking for advice last year about what to wear on an interview to a MAJOR sneaker/fashion company..which I worked at the entire summer. I am sure you own a pair of their shoes.
They paid $25 dollars an hour, and my housing for the entire summer. We lived in one of those Marriot hotels with apartments inside, and I shared a 2bd/2b with another intern. I also got to go to NY 3 times on their dime. Plus they paid for my drive back from the east coast to the midwest. They had 20 interns last summer across all departments(brand, shoe, HR, legal). Both of my other internship were paid almost just as well.
Just because you arent in the know, or you did slave work for free, doesnt mean it doesnt exist.
Also my username has nothing to do with me not wanting to work. I just needed advice on whether too many internships may look bad.
Geez get a grip.

Actually PP
Like many people here, I started working in this field because it was my dream and unlike you I didn't have the chance to attend college, I just worked days and night, did lots of flyers/posters, learned a lot from other designers and I guess I got lucky because without any real experience nor college degree, I got hired straight from the "street" ahahha (worked in korea/ canada and right now i'm working in italy).
still I never done a single day of internship and don't see why I or anyone else should, from my point of view if a company really wants to hire you, they'll hire you, no need for paid internship.
what I wanted to express was that maybe if you really needed to work and start a real career you would have done it by now.

but to respond to your question if you're good enough to be chosen to become an intern, you should do your best to remain in the company. I don't know if doing too much internship hurts your credentials but if I was you I would point to junior position

I had minimal internship experience but it was valuable experience nonetheless. It solidified for me exactly what i DIDN'T want to do in the industry. That being said I think there comes a point when you need to stop being and intern and take on the role and responsibilities that being a designer/creative entails.

I had 3 internships upon graduating college - it took me 9 months to get an entry level gig and that was 2 years ago when the economy was better.
I don't think too many internships applies until you're up closer to ten in quantity.
Good luck.

I agree with George. Internships are great if you're still in college, which you are, but once you've breached the divide, there's no reason to turn back.
Also, I don't think there's anything wrong in withholding your credentials/portfolio/etc. If you're not prepared to show your work for whatever reason, that's up to you and no one else.
