(sorry to bring up ie6 again)

You're preaching to the chior here. Sadly, for me at work the site I look after still has around 13% IE6 usage which on 1/4 million visits a day makes it difficult to discount but in our case it's not so much corporate visitors but people who just don't know any better and would probably be unsure about installing updates etc.

"corporate visitors but people who just don't know any better and would probably be unsure about installing updates etc"
Its more a case that incompetent IT departments spent a fortune on an intranet system that only works in IE6.
The users don't have a say in it because all their updates are controlled by IT

^^^ True dat. I have a family member that works for a local autority. She has zero say, the IT twats will uninstall anything that they think could be used for procrastination, including the functionality to play DVDs or, until a couple of months ago, access wireless networks.
Mind numbingly stupid.

we've started adding error messages to our websites for ie 6 now.

WARNING.

You are using Internet Explorer 6. IE6 is an eight year old browser which does not display modern web sites...

That's a good line of attack .. "if you have IE6, your IT department is shite"

What's the word on Safari for Windows?
My opinion is that it's the best browser for OS X. Chrome is getting a lot of press but it's built on WebKit, same as Safari, and Safari is actually faster and more stable. So despite the hype Safari actually beats Chrome. FireFox is sturdy but slow. All those Mozilla web dev tools actually have WebKit equivalents so that's not a deal breaker anymore. I wish Opera was more of a competitor on OS X because competition between browser cores is a good thing. Anyway... I feel strongly that Safari is the best browser on OS X. I'd like to believe it's also great on Windows, but is that really the case?
- I heard Safari is pretty buggy on Windows, but I can't confirm.lukus_W
- I much prefer Moz web dev tools to any other .. so I stick to Firefox for that reason.lukus_W
- Safari is alright on windows, doesn't feel as native as Chrome.
But I love Safari on OSXBIGGESTDOGINTHEWORLD

Isn't safari easier to crack into than ie?
- mydo0
can't we all just use firefox and get on with doing stuff.
and if i was god, i'd invent a singular OS for everything too that everyone had to use...
and it would be so good that people would just fuck each other.- interesting. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.shitehawke

Safari is sooooooo fucking good on the PC, that if you download iTunes, it appears as if by MAGIC like a little guardian angle of the interwebs!
