My ex works for a publishing company that supplies paperchase & clintons.
They were shameless rip off artists, not the individual designers though, the managers and often MD (who is a bit of a tyrant) would press the designers in to doing the shit.
Paperchase probably don't know any better (Clintons never seemed to), they may think it was original work.

same thing happens with tshirt designs etc, plus all those art canvas shops that just take jpgs and print them out

I agree, there is a lot of plaigarism around, but Paperchase is huge and worldwide so this is inexcusable. I wrote a quick email to them to show my support. This is totally wrong, ripping stuff from the web and making money from it. It wouldn't even be hard for them to employ an illustrator to produce original work.

Stugoo, when you post something about plagiarism, it's probably a good idea to point out what is being plagiarized. I click on your link to Hide n Seek and see an illustrative website. I google PaperChase and find something completely different. Please explain.
- Oh, I get it now. I actually read the article. I thought this was a site thing. Please ignore this comment.monospaced

my friend gemma correll has recently gone through this with someone copying her designs and then selling them to urban outfitters for tee shirts

I just got this email response from Paperchase:
Thank you for your email.
The situation is not as described on the website - we purchased the
design in good faith from a London design studio.Yours sincerely

I think it's rubbish of Paperchase to wash their hands of the matter since they "purchased the design in good faith". That's almost irrelevant, the fact is that plagiarised work is out there on their shelves and they are responsible for it. If that attitude was ok then newpapers could outsource reporting and when facts were wrong just hold their hands up and say "sorry, we paid a freelance writer and thought they would get the facts right".
It would be cool to start a campaign outside their stores with posters, or even stickers on the products stating that their design was stolen

looks like amazon has already removed the products from their site.
