what a fucking master
He was a great painter. Too bad he made his biggest fame on Molly Hatchet covers.
i love that shit, rip old boy
Yeah, I heard that news earlier today. I felt nothing.
Love Frazetta and Rich Corben.
reminisced about his work the other day. RIP!
Frazetta was my brother - the illustrator, greatest inspiration, which kinda has made an impact on myself as well.
Anyone ever visited his showcase museum in Brooklyn? I believe it was moved to Pennsylvania some time ago.
i grew up learning to draw from a frank frazetta book....he was one of my biggest influences...along with Moebius, Corben and Drulliet (i spent a lot of time reading heavy metal when i was a young kid...)
it was Frazetta along with all those European artists that totally made me want to be an artist...
of course, i ended up in design, but it was their inspiration that got me here...sad to hear he passed away....
Hey what's wrong with Molly Hatchet? The only reason I knew who they were or bought their stuff as a kid was because of the illustrations on their records.
no way! ultra bummer!! RIP!!!
Learned alot from him.
RIP, big man!
^^^ Me too!!!
The deathbringer is of the BEST fantasy paint EVER
RIP, he was a legend in his own lifetime.
Great wanking material for young kids without access to porn.
I love Frazetta's work, most when I was in my teens and twenties. His painterly style was unlike anyone else in his genre, and his figures were so voluptuous and beautifully flawed like real people made heroic, rather than all those other Barbie and Ken clones. He was a master of dramatic silhouette, judicious use of texture, sparingly rendered realistic touches that augmented where he led your eye, and he had a great optimistic empathy for all his characters, people, animals, monsters, vegetation, mountains, and even the roots and rocks laying about in each scene. He obviously loved his life. I hope his life's work will still be available to many generations of artists still to come. It is a rewarding and inspiring experience, especially for the young at heart.
