Oh, my god, why can't he just go die in a fire or something?

Still the greatest page on the internets

sounds like some bitter fan boys up in here!
- Continuity0
Nah, not bitter ... not in any sort of iPad fanboy sense, anyway.
If it was up to Nielsen, we'd still be designing for Netscape Navigator and IE3, with 2-colour GIFs and old-school formatting in mark-up.
- this is true. He covers some good points but hes a design naziStugoo

I actually read the whole article and makes some fair points, having used the ipad a couple of times.
However, how can anyone ever take him seriously given how unbelievably poor the design of his site is.
It's probably the worst UI on a website this side of geocities:
- ukit0
He spends two paragraphs talking about how he came up with the amazing idea of using an arrow icon in his breadcrumb nav.

"I am not a visual designer, so my graphics would look crummy anyway. Since this website is created by myself (and not by a multidisciplinary team as I always recommend for large sites) I didn't want to spend money to hire an artist. "
so he's a cheap bastard as well as an idiot
- Yup!Continuity
- At least he's honest about being a no-talent ass-hat, though.Continuity

he tested SEVEN users!? what kind of usability report only takes into consideration 7 users? ugh, that guy is such a quack.
- Kiggen0
Such i whiny dick. If all people thought like him we would all be still working in MSDOS. People like this prevent progress.

Guy that used to teach usability when I was at school. His website also looks like arse:
Guess it's how they roll.

vitamins,
his site has always been horrible to read and spend time on.But I always thought of it as his joke, as sarcasm, and some kind of sadistic point he's making: "this is how the web would look like if you guys listened to me completely, with outmost attention and diligence".
- PonyBoy0
How is it that this man is or ever has been relevant?
- ukit0
You have to kind of admire him, he bullshitted his way into being "the expert" on usability.

What really bothers me the most about Nielsen's proselytising is his one-dimensional view of what the Web should be.
From what I've always understood, he sees it strictly as a giant shopping cart mechanism that has no room for anything else; like experimenting, branding, communication, multimedia platform, or whatever.
No, Mr Nielsen doesn't want any of that. He just wants e-commerce and brochures.
Suck my ballz, Jakob.
