Job hunting and business cards

So, an architect friend of mine recently asked me why I don't have my own business card. My reply was that I'm not looking for freelance gigs, but rather a full-time permanent thing, and that handing out a card might give the wrong first impression relative to that.
But, now, it's got me thinking that maybe it's a good idea. One never knows who one might run into in the run of a day, and it's not like I carry hardcopies of my CV with me all the time.
Thoughts? Should do some cards up?

if you're not looking for freelance or contract work why would you bother. enough douchebags hand out a card at the drop of a hat as it is, me included. it's not exactly a social norm that when meeting someone socially you hand out a business card, especially if you don't have a business.
i think i'd not bother with the cards and get some other friends. lets face it, stereotypically speaking architects can be self involved over confident douchenozzles.
