i know many of you dislike me for whatever reason, and while i can't change that, what i can do is clear some things up. it seems like everyone has a different idea about who i am, and these are often nowhere near the mark. i'd rather you dislike me for who i am than for who you imagine i am.

if you knew me in person you'd know that i'm not. i don't take myself seriously. i don't think i'm better than you, i don't think my job or my work is better than yours. i've never said a single thing about the quality of my work (except that i hope it's good enough to land my next job) and certainly have not insulted anyone else's. i try to never be mean in a crit. i actually avoid crits because it makes me feel presumptuous.someone here latched onto something i said about "millions of dollars" being at stake with my work. the topic was those annoying "destroy this email" signatures and i defended the mandatory one in mine, explaining that a movie could tank if i accidentally leaked a script or other materials onto the web. this was taken to mean i make millions of dollars and i'm terribly important. i don't know how this happened or why anyone would be so eager to leap there. it honestly baffles me.
WHY WOULD YOU WEAR THAT
i often post weird shit in the WANT thread. i don't wear that shit every day. i wear it to festivals and parties, and for performances. nine out of ten days i'm wearing a plain black tee, ripped up jeans and chucks. i'm having one of my favorite designers make me a pair of leather pants. yeah, that's pretty gay but i think it's kinda rockstar and i'm excited about it. who fucking cares? why does this offend you so? again, i don't do this shit to impress anyone, i'm not trying to fit into any category. i'm just having fun.ARE YOU GOTH OR EMO OR RAVER OR HIPSTER OR WHAT

i talk about parties, drugs and burning man a lot. i like these things. a lot. i keep it to the burning man, drugs, blog, and past weekend threads.i started posting in the "this past weekend" thread a while back and i got comments from people enjoying these posts and asking for more. i complied. then others started bitching about me treating qbn as my personal blog so i stopped doing it. i started back up today because i like looking back on it and because fuck you guys, i like that thread.
in the last couple years i finally started putting names to faces here and found i enjoyed the place more because of it. it also made me nicer to everyone because you stopped being one anonymous clump of people and became individuals to me. so i posted pics of myself in the mugs thread. this turned into a "scarabin is full of himself" kind of a deal and people bitched. not my intent. just joining in your reindeer games.

i sincerely apologize for anything i've done in the past to intentionally hurt anyone. when i'm in a heated argument on here, i try to avoid personal attacks and stick to the issue. i think i've done an okay job at this, but i'm sure i've fucked up, too. i make it a point to never hold grudges against someone just because i disagreed with them in a thread. in the next thread we're best friends. i did call out uber and hedge, and i still feel bad about both.need to vent? do it here. got any questions? i'll answer. call me on my bullshit. just don't presume.
