I was looking for something similar a while ago, something like an apache folder view but with previews... didn't find anything.

J, you can set up a folder display in concrete5 that does this.
Theres a free add-on that displays a list of downloadable content:

What about something like this? I'd say you could code it to display any file type, as opposed to just specific ones.
