this has some interesting statistics, but i think it's bullshit how it talks about how "discovery of internet porn" is destroying marriages 'n' crap. makes me wonder how it factors into real people's lives and how it could actually be detrimental to relationships as it seems to me like harmless fun.
my girl has a sugardvd subscription. she picks out most of the titles and they just come in every week. we watch the stuff like it's cartoons while just hanging out or sobering up after a party.
i can't be the only one who does this... have you ever gotten in a fight with a girl about porn? do you have to hide a secret stash and beat off in secret like a criminal? how did you allow that to happen?
is this a christian/religious thing?
girls, do you find it offensive? threatening? fun? why or why not?
this thing say 50% of people who watch internet porn lose interest in real sex.
that's fucking retarded.
- yeah, that defies logicmonospaced
- Perhaps, but maybe they're talking about people who spend all their time viewing porn?Jaline
- Although...some of it makes sense, but the bottom half seems to be severely exaggerated.Jaline
- It's very vague. but there's some truth to it. Regular ol sex can pale in comparison to porn style sex.dopepope
- actually thats pretty logical. how many girls do you know that do porn sex? Its a fantasy.VikingKingEleven
- you'd be surprised. lol.dopepope
- when you know you have access to worldwide porn, i can see losing psychological interest.omg
spurious sources, the lot.
"56% of divorces involved one partner having an obsessive interest in pornographic websites"
90% of statistics on thinly veiled religious right propaganda info-graphics are 100% bullshit.
oh! I didn't see the url at the bottom ONLINEpsychologydegree.net - of course, why go to the hassle of attending a real college where you have to go in the daytime wearing proper clothes ? Why not get a real degree in your pyjamas ! It's that simple ! This is Americuh - remember that everyone is intelligent enough to learn anything, as long as you can afford the tuition.
Check out the movie Middle Men. Pretty interesting story about internet porn. Not a bad flick at all.
1st of all..
Great looking infographic.
I think the breaking marriage thing goes for the catalogued "porn addicts" (11 or more hs weekly looking at porn)
If your girl is ok with it, then no harm done, but if she sees that as something she doesn't approve, then chances are you are going to have some discussions.
It's also really easy to link viewing porn to any negative, because negativity seems to be so intrinsic. But it can't be the one and only cause.
America, ffff...fap fap fap fap fap
"70% of the internet traffic occurs during the 9-5 workday."
Well duh, of course it does. What does this have to do with porn?
Personally I don't see the harm if it's in moderation and used to enhance the relationship not replace it.
On the good side it could spice up a mundane sex life and give couples some good ideas to try.
On the bad side it could become addictive, mask sexual or intimacy issues within the relationship, feed or create unhealthy sexual interests or habits or lead to infidelity.
The issues I think woman have with porn is that they think their man may compare them to the porn stars and not be able to live up to that image and feel like they are not enough to satisfy their partner. Also that her partner may not put in as much effort for a good sexual experience if he has been jacking off to porn all day. Good female porn is also hard to find, most porn seems to be made for a man's brain.
bill maher had a rant about this around valentines day...
I think if my co-workers who smoke get to take smoking breaks during the workday, I should be allowed to view porn on my computer during those minutes.
Discovering online sexual material is the worst thing that has ever happened in my life!
uh oh, I'm a sexual compulsive.
If they think it's bad now, just wait til virtual reality porn arrives.
I know people where porn has had a detrimental effect on relationships or on individuals' perceptions on porn, but it's more fault on the person than the nature of the content.
I watch porn with my girlfriend all the time and it's no big deal.
People losing interest in sex with their partner through porn is an issue in openness about sexuality in a relationship, and not porn itself.
Most girls I know wouldn't be too comfortable doing it frequently because, well, let's face it... it's a ridiculously hot and often filthy chick getting abused by an ugly, dumb bloke. That's if you even see the guy's face at all. So basically, it's made for men and makes the girl look prudish, ugly, fat and small-titted by comparison.
Except of course the girls I end up with :P
I really think there isn't enough more decent porn out there where it's actually about two people making love and enjoying each other. If there was more of that, women would enjoy it more. I love Sasha Grey's look but jesus christ if a girl ever started shouting and screaming at me like I'd just get turned off!!! (ok mostly cos I'd be worrying what my housemates are thinking)
