Any system have the following capabilities out-of-the-box?
"a shopping cart that will combine orders together, estimated cost, and additional services (signatures, insurance, etc)"
Just helping out a friend, and I haven't seen anything combine these above things. Maybe Zen Cart does? I won't be building it. Just modifying some of the elements.

Magento may be able to do all that - although I don't 100% understand what you need.

need more precise understanding of what you want..... combining orders to different shipping addresses? Combining orders from different users at the same company? Some of these things require heavy-duty huge-cost e-commerce systems like the godforsaken hellhole called Broadvision... it does A LOT but it is a FUCKING GODDAMN PAIN BEYOND BELIEF if you need to do something slightly outside the stuff it makes easy....

Honestly, I don't know all the details yet. Client's budget is very low + wants lots of things that are completely unnecessary together. There are lots of other requests that aren't needed either, but I'm trying to steer it in the right direction. We'll see how it goes. Will report back with more details.

oddly, I think that picking an e-commerce package with some limitations may HELP the project management, because the limitations require people to stop being random and make actual priorities and accept trade-offs.
