I do love H&FJ, they do amazing work, but their typefaces can be hell when dealing with styles in InDesign.
Berthold makes some of the most solid cuts of classic typefaces.
House and those guys are really great too.

There are some font _families_ out there which retail for upwards of $900. And yes, I would (and have, for clients) bought such fonts. They tend to be of a quality that one could use repeatedly for decades.
