The past 6 months here have been miserable and I can't seem to think of one reason to stay. Everything is broken from the top down and the guys like me who are in the trenches are the ones who pay. I was put on a 60 day notice because I was leaving at 5:30pm, getting here at 8am (no smoke breaks, 15-30 min lunch), and people were complaining because they were working later. (Manage your time better people).
My CD is anything but and is constantly throwing me/us under the bus. I feel stifled, defeated and smothered by 9am every morning.
You know it's bad when you literally can't think of one single good thing to say about a company other than "there is a Dunkin Donuts two buildings away".
This is like a bad relationship that I got into for all the wrong reasons, and now as long as I make sure all the soup labels are pointed forward, I won't get beaten... it's not so bad right?!?
Fuck. Sorry to vent but it's noon and I want to blow my brains out.
Do I leave and find something else, because I just can't work here anymore or do I stay, find something better and walk? It's just getting real hard to wake up in the morning and drive to work.
Please save the "at least you have a job" comments, because for 2 years I've kept friends and past colleagues away from this place cause it's so bad. I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to work here.

Wait a second: you're already on 60 days' notice? So you're going to get fired anyway?
Top tip: start looking for a new gig. Right now.

where on the map are you? some places are harder then others.
- CALLES0
sounds horrible... stay and get paid to be on qbn

60days? Just start looking and give two weeks. You've only been there 6 months – i'm sure the departure will feel nothing more than a whisper to the company.
If they somehow come across this post and know your handle, you could be out of there by 4PM.
- Been here 2 years. The past year has sucked, the past 6 months have been miserable.sigg

Hang in there bro:
Yes you DO have a job and that is something but it is all moot point if you are miserable day-in and day-out. I would try to quickly get organized to the degree in which you are comfortable applying for new gigs and sending out work samples and whatnot. Yes the creative job market is tough right now, and particularly in certain places more than others, but there ARE good jobs out there looking for the right people. Be patient and optimistic!
1. Get organized. NOW! Start this evening after work.
2. Be patient and start spreading the word about yo badself
3. Actively schedule time where you scour job sites, send out resumes and hit-up your professional contacts for any leads.
4. Did I mention be patient?

Sounds terrible..sorry man.
Find a new job and when you get that new job, tell your old job that you're going on vacation and collect your vacation pay. Then quit.

Glad to hear I am not the only one in this situation.
I'm here on my desk contemplating suicide every day.

I have a feeling we'll be hiring another designer in the next few months. Our new hire is pregnant and will be going on maternity leave at the same time as work is starting to really ramp up. Would you like to be considered?

^ +1.
I think we've all been there at least once, some of us are still there. The only tip I have is exactly as others have said: start looking elsewhere right away.
If you are in a serious relationship and your significant other can support you in this change, just be honest with them. "Honey, I can't take it and it's affecting our relationship in ways that may not be obvious to you. I want to be happy when I leave work, and not come home with anger." If you're solo, then even better. Do what Derek said, and spend your evenings getting your shit together for a change. Don't think twice or second guess yourself.
There are always going to be jobs out there for our industry, in almost any city. The key is are you happy with another shitty job that may have less problems, but also less pay? Sometimes you gotta bite a smaller bullet to get past a hump.

i held on to a job 2 years longer than i should have. one of the greatest feelings tendering that resignation.

but seriously. suicide is not the answer.
If anything you could entertain thoughts of violence toward those that are causing your misery.
I got wise and I got out.

right there with you buddy. just got back from 2 days off and got the usual email from the coworker who is the next level up from me but not a manager or boss telling me about how she had to work on a project of mine that got approved while I was out and what a put out it was for her...I guess I should have stayed on email and worked form home on my day off? : ) "whatever b1tch". And she copies my boss. The funny part is she has done this a few times but never has the balls to say anything to me face to face.
I have been in the hunt and have an inside track on a position, interviewing tues for it. I was tempted to leave and call in sick until after the interview just for shits and giggles. Anyways I feel your pain daily. Theres no better feeling though when you get the connections going and remember people will actually appreciate and value your talents elsewhere. get moving, tonight!

Leave that job before they find you on here and preempt your ass. It happened to me, and the things I said weren't nearly as negative as your post. If these people are as terrible as you make them sound, they won't hesitate to dismantle you in front of the entire office and escort you out of the building.
