Making a video to go on an iPad.
Size the FCP sequence to 1024 x 768 and dragging 1920 x 1080 clips in, and they're coming in letterboxed, so i have to scale up, then look a bit crap. What's the best settings to edit to for iPad video content?

Or in fact has anyone had any experience of doing video content specific for the ipad?

edit @ 1920, export to target size
- What about the crop?DaveO
- you can either letterbox or re-edit your video in the new aspect ratio... there's no pre-fab formula, it depends on your video.zarkonite
- video... that's more a creative decision than anything else AFAIK.zarkonite
- Then ow do you export to play ion iPad?DaveO
- The iPad can play any size ratio video you throw at it, really.monospaced

Just work in HD export in HD the ipad will play the videos in the correct way. The ipad will pop it's own black bars top and bottom etc. if it doesn't then I would be very very surprised.

Yeah I would work at 1080 res, then when edit is final Export > Using Quicktime Conversion > H264 (customize how you like). If it helps the stock settings in Compressor for an iPad are 1280x720 @ 10Mbps.

Don't you guys use handbrake for the best compression.
I use it and its awesome. I thought it was standard process - export uncompressed - whack it in handbrake = great file size (the best afaik).
- I normally use handbrake for ripping DVDs. Most of my stuff needs FLV compression so...stoplying
