Which do you prefer and why? Where's the breaking point?

i dont mind scrolling at all but to be honest i fucking despise 'infinite' scrolling. where it loads more shit when you get to the bottom of the page. For some reason it always irks me i would rather click to view the next page that have to continue scrolling down a never ending page of neverendingosity.
- actually if it's neverending, i dont mind, but then show EVERYTHING at once... not little bits at a time...mantrakid

depends on how the content is presented and if it lends itself to be scrolling. I do like the flip effect on Flipboard

If you do infinite scrolling, please provide a way to navigate via URL...all I ask of that technique.

Paging is nice because you can paginate content in a way that makes the kerning and line spacing acceptable for reading - like when you turn a tablet and go from 1 page in portrait mode, to two pages in landscape mode - but it is just the one page laid out across two pages. Scrolling too much makes me think of scroll wheels and those were lame, plus it drives me nuts like mantrakid stated above.

Infinite scrolling is fine if you're using a scroll wheel, or one of Apple's trackpads. When you have a Wacom though, and dragging the scrollbar with your pen, it's a fucking pain in the arse.

I don't have a favorite yet but I do prefer scrolling for mobile.
Both works for me too.

i despise infinite scrolling because it's annoying having to find the content again when you revisit the site. at least create links to the pages being loaded. you can also use html5 history api to update the browser history and address bar

infinite scrolling sucks

One of the many reasons infinite scrolling is unacceptable is that you are always supposed to give the user a clue how much content is there. Even in 3 page forms you usually get to see which page you're on.
Then, there's all the other reasons listed above.

Show me content quickly and clearly.
How you do it is virtually irrelevant.

I prefer infinite scrolling on time based feeds. Biggest problem is when sites do not offer a jump to the top button. You're literally climbing that scroll bar, with a little handle and a long scrollbar.
I have no issues paging through a good 3-5 page web article, depending on the amount of ad space pushed on the page.

endless scrolling increases click-throughs from links lower on the page, pushing traffic deeper into the site.
i personally hate having to click something for the next page.
endless scrolling is the future.

Both, just paging is annoying, infinite scrolling is annoying

Endless scrolling = I leave
I want to know where I am, where the content ends.
