District Attorney tells how to pick jury:
"You are there to win and the only way to do it so it get jurors that are unfair (...) low income Blacks are less likely to convict (...) you don't want smart people because smart people - they take those words 'reasonable doubt' and they actually try to think about it"DAMN!

The justice system is a highly legalized game of truth or dare. Not surprising.

The problem is we want those people (DAs) to work philosophically doing one (searching for justice) thing but practically another (personal gains of winning convictions).

I think it has to do that it's a "system" and any system gets corrupted sooner or later (often sooner) under pretense of whatever: "We are all equal!" (communism); "We all have a say!" (democracy); "We are searching for justice" (justice system)
In a way the appearance of the whatever is necessary for the system to keep its credibility.
