a guy would have come in and scare everyone. she can kill them with perceived kindness.

I wonder if everyone would be talking so much about this WFH shift if the CEO were a man. The tone would certainly be different. Good for her. Who knows if Yahoo will make it but it certainly won't if she doesn't shake things up. The outcome will be that the lazy longtimers who do nothing will quit (if they can find another job) or be managed out. Innovation cannot thrive in an environment where mediocrity has a chokehold.

I like that she's not a cold, clawed her way to the top type

@monkeyshine...I kind of agree with you. On the other hand, I can't remember the last time a male brought in a rule like this but then proceeded to build her own personal crèche at work for her kid.

@BusterBoy It could be because most male CEOs have stay at home wives. I know that's a sweeping generalization but I recall talking to a female CEO of an affiliate PBS station who talked of the challenges of women CEOs who don't have that "partner" who manages the whole domestic side of their lives.
I'm not sure what I think of her but she a has an enormous job and I guess I don't really care if she's managed to create her own personal daycare. She'll ultimately be judged on whether Yahoo is successful. If she is (I can't really imagine Yahoo can compete but we'll see) she'll be lauded for this decision. If it fails, she's be vilified even more, rightly or wrongly.
How many male CEOs have used their secretaries to schedule appointments, pick up their kids, etc. ?

She reminds me of a youth camp counselor that let me touch her butt and boobs in a crummy old yacht that was stored in a field. Summer of 86 in the Catskills. As far as Lutheran camps go, I saw a lot more of God in that shitty old boat than I did anywhere else at that place. She kissed like a lizard and smelled like cinnamon.
- anything more you like to add to that story?pango

It's an interesting question: Why are there so few women in technical fields like web design and programming?
When a woman succeeds in this business she gets a front page story just for being a women: http://www.cnn.com/2013/03/12/te…

Marissa Mayer's tumultuous four-year stint as Yahoo's CEO may be coming to a close, but she still has a few giant paychecks left to cash.
If Mayer steps down -- which is still an uncertainty -- she'll be due about $57 million in severance after Verizon takes over the company, according to Equilar. That's expected to happen in the first quarter of 2017.
Her enormous golden parachute would come on top of more than $162 million in salary and stock awards that Mayer received over the course of her tenure. All told, she could exit Yahoo with around $219 million in the bank.
- And Mozilla have a deal where they'll get all the money owed to them, even if they decide to stop using Y! search. God only knows how that company works.detritus
