It's pretty bloody important. Once when I was younger, I told my father I wanted to solve the worlds ills. He quickly slapped me and told me how kerning, leading, and branding is more important than doing something.

I jest of course. I love skateboarding, film and design. I've learned the most useless things in this world are far more virtuous.

There's a purity to it that can't be measured in wealth.

Lots of worse jobs. We make the world a nicer looking place.
We can't all be paparazzi or ambulance chasers.

Let's face it - design as most of us understand it is purely a first world luxury.
Your logo isn't curing world hunger. That fancy brochure you designed isn't saving lives. That slick website that uses HTML5 can't even be viewed in third world countries because hey... they don't even have fuckin' computers.
But I do agree that in developed countries design is important - especially to the bottom line of businesses.
And either you were heavily intoxicated at the time of posting this or your father had his priorities mixed up.
- they do though, design can help a good cause save lives and impact the third worldmonospaced
