I'm all about the blended smoothies
My breakfast most days is -
Half a cup if mixed berries
1 banana
Tea spoon of green barley grass (this shit is like some super super food, i link to it in the next post)
Cup of oats (Scott's porridge oats)
Desert spoon of peanut butter (sunpat - no palm oil!)
And about 400ml of milk. (I like semi skimmed)Fucking delicious!
They are rough measures though, I just do it by eye.I occasionally through in some whey protein if it's near a training day, but the acidic fruit break down whey protein really quick so it's kinda wasteful.
- Nice apart from the oats and cow juice. Barley grass is great stuff indeed !set
- i'll try this with a coconut milk subscarabin
- You don't drink milk? Why is that? I love milk :D
I also like coconut milk though.Hombre_Lobo

Green barley grass powder -
http://www.myprotein.com/sports-…Believed to be seven times richer in Vitamin C than oranges, five times richer in iron than spinach and ten times richer in calcium than milk. High in protein too. It's an antioxidant too, and contains loads more vitamins not listed here.
The nutritional content can vary in terms of the powders quality, but overall it's ridiculously good.
- wow. gotta look into thatscarabin
- Yeh it's pretty impressive stuff. I still need to learn more about it though.Hombre_Lobo

so yep, been doing a juice fast the last 17 days.
its been really good. doing a 1 month detox from alcohol, weed and refined sugar before helped a lot with the transition.the only downside, apart from the cost of going thru that much fresh produce, is the need to be able to get enough time to juice and clean the juicer 5 times a day.
i tried juicing all in the morning, but the evening ones always tasted a bit funny..
but on the upside, i have lost 7kg now.. my skin is super clear and generally i feel so much better.. but its hard to tell how much of that is the juice and how much of that is the lack of hangover/stoneover..
its super hard with christmas at the moment, so many things where there are so much good food and alcohol..
but at the same time, i figure if i can make it thru this, it will be good.
im aiming for 20 days, then between xmas and new years wind it back a bit.. then start again in the new year..
- every day it gets easier until it becomes second naturealbums
- yeah, its pretty much auto pilot at the moment..autoflavour
- that said, i do eat the occasional tomato.. or a few nuts.. so its not a complete juice only.. but like 99%autoflavour
- I use a hand blender and throw it in the dishwasher or even just rinse it quickly afterwardsset
- Hand blender works surprisingly wellset
- I also believe that the stress of hardcore detox can be damaging as well. Relax at Christmas broset
- i'm about to embark on a ten-dayscarabin

comparing juicing to greensmoothies are bit of a false economy tho..
i tried doing a green smoothie detox.. well, i made it 10 days, but every day was a complete struggle.. a whole pitcher of GS was only like 600 calories.. so to even be above starvation, i would need to get 2 of them down.. it was near impossible.. and i always felt hungry.
where as with juice, more calories per juice, much easier to get above starvation.. and i am good for at least 4 hours..
they are different beasts.
once i am doing with the detox, i think i will start combining them though, i dont feel you get enough value out of juicing greens like Kale or Spinach, and just blending them with fresh juice would be a ideal solution.
- dont get me wrong, greensmoothies are also awesome. but juicing is like crackautoflavour
- its sooooooo goodautoflavour

I started juicing after seeing Fat Sick and Nearly Dead. Way better than the supersize me documentary by way of story telling and content. We got this DVD for free when we purchased our Breville and haven't regretted the purchase since.Things you should know going into it. Juicing is not the same as blending first and foremost. Juicing extracts micronutrients and gives them to you in usable form where as blended fruits and veggies still need to be broken down more. For every one apple or piece of kale juiced you would have to eat 5-8 more raw or blended to get the same input of nutrients.
Second, it's time consuming. For every "batch" you make (4 kale leaves, 4 celery, 1 cucumber, 2 green apples, 1" ginger, 1/2 lemon) which yields only 24oz. requires a vegetable and device cleanup time of about 20 minutes not to mention the time for purchasing fresh vegetables.
Finally, cost. Don't be fooled into thinking you need organic for juicing, not true. However, for every 24oz (3 Servings of 8oz per meal for me) runs about 6 bucks, which is not bad but I also add other ingredients like spinach etc.
Benefits, I can tell you that the benefits are unreal. in a little over a week i lost 10lbs and had the energy to cycle 10 miles a day. Now, a lot of that was water weight, but my energy was through the roof and required less tired/crash feeling after meals because my body didn't have to break down other garbage and blood sugar spikes.
If you are looking to feel better, lose weight, get off medication and just be healthier all around, juicing is a great option. I think we are all just used to prepackaged meals and convenience of fast food but if we are willing to unlearn those habits YOU will notice a huge difference in the way you feel, think and recover.
- awesome film, that "hungry for change" and "forks over knives" completely changed the way i eatscarabin

i tried making crackers with the pulp and it was the worst thing i ever put in my mouth. i'm pretty sure everything but the fiber is taken out by my machine cause what's left tastes like cardboard. i run it through three times and boil it to make stock just to be sure. it's making awesome compost though, my tomato plants are loving it

OK I retract my earlier statement and want my juicer back. 3 weeks of overindulgence and now I'm pretty sure I have my own gravitational pull.
