I'm a firm believer that predictions made never come true, so I'll ask a few questions:
Does this having staying power?
How much trust are people willing to put in cryptocurrencies?
Does popular culture have a marked affect on the way people view currency?
What if people begin to shift their finances away from government issued currencies to eventually become the rule, and not the exception?
Personally I find this current evolution the most exciting thing in recent times. :D

how long does your average meme last? a few months, tops?
- <refers to first question. this isn't your average meme, it's become a branded currency, which is beyond bizarreZOOP
- my point is how long is interest in one more crypto created as a joke going to last once everyone has become bored with the doge memescarabin
- A single cryptocurrency might not be the answer, maybe a continuous succession, don't ask me! lolZOOP
- but say for instance one could have a varied choice, as many as there are drink brandsZOOP

I think there will be a boom in currency just as in the states every bank issued script. it will crash as people get greedy. a few will survive. Government on behalf of big corporations is going to playa hate and try to step in on certain types of currencies. a few currencies that are trusted will survive. big corporation will try to step in to profit as push for everything digital and surveillance. In the end it depends on your azzes. what you decide and actions you take in mass numbers.

Dogecoin isn't meant to be taken as a serious as bitcoin. People are talking about using this as an online tip/reward system. I guess it could become something else but depends on the people using it. Just like all the others I guess.

The point here is the change in general perception of cryptocurrency from something out of reach for the average person, to one people can identify with, and this incarnation has the foundation of existing algorithms combined with the disarming qualities of a well known popular culture reference.
Time will tell if people trust cryptos enough to put their hard earned money into. The ceiling is high enough so that more people can actually own an amount that feel like currency to them, as opposed to a percentage of one bitcoin for instance.
It comes down to having enough belief in something to make it a permanent fixture. Popularizing cryptocurrency is needed as people have less and less confidence in their own governments' currencies.
- My hope is that this will be a way for alternative decentralized currency to get a foot in the doorZOOP

Or is it more like a pyramid scheme? "Invent" a coin with some unique feature, give yourself ownership of most of them. Spam Bitcoin forum, /r/bitcoin/ and other sites. Watch as the value rises, ???, profit!
- that would be the point of having many to choose from, based on performance and equality of ownershipZOOP
- bitcoin sure has the feel of a monopolyZOOP
- btw dogecoin is at barely over 2% mined of the total available :)ZOOP
- Most of them are I'm guessing, otherwise they wouldn't be seen as viablereanimate
- NXT and Quarkcoin are thisanimatedgif
- animatedgif0
Some of them yes, they're pre-mined by creators or in private groups
