I promise it isn't a shoebox (even though everyone needs a revolutionary shoebox),
everyone I show it to tell me I should try to produce it, even random people turn around when they see it,anyways, anyone here have experience bringing a product to life,
• financing => kickstarter or private investor?
• production => do it yourself or alibaba?
• networking = design boom or reddit?those are example, please tell me your success stories,
thanks,
G.

If you have a private investor who won't take too much, use them.
If you don't, can your idea both survive in the public domain without getting copied before you release, and will it be of interest to a worthwhile niche whom you can incentivise into pre-production support? If so, Kickstart that fucker.
I'd wary about the china production route - if you can at least get the first few batches done closer to home you can benefit from both the "Made at home" angle and the fact you can visit producers/manufacturers and iterate quickly. I only know a few people who've gone the China route... most have ended up regretting the experience and haven't particularly benefited from the savings they were supposed to incur.
If you can afford to go over there and be hands-on for the time it takes to develop, then sure. If not, don't.
And then there's the copying angle... .
Networking? Designboom AND Reddit. AND QBN. AND pinkfluffypeople.it, etc
- ...although I have a couple of friends who made literally millions by going the China route - but they had money.detritus

thanks Detritus,
it's definitiely a niche product, sadly I can't kickstart from italy because italian law won't allow it, everyone can copy it because the idea isn't that genius, it just had to be done, thanks for your input, I'll start taking my ideas more seriously in the future
( I actually checked pinkfluffypeople.it, I shoulda known it was too good to be true)
- your in Italy?autoflavour
- Ah yes, I forgot about that riduculousness over there.

If its patent worthy you should look into it first...
I know someone even with patent had china steal stuff and ended up in a settlement for peanuts of the damages... Its hard and expensive to litigate. but you need the patent first because its first come first serve legally speaking...

Aye patenting's a double-edged sword, a lot of companies who are able to hide the machinations of their products don't bother, as it alerts competitors to the hows and wherefores..
...they also cost a fortune, need to be registered in a load of markets and even then need to bre periodically renewed.

I always thought the whole patent thing is ridiculous because it stops progress,
just look at all those patent trolls that never produce anything but had an idea and were smart enough to grab the patent before someone else who actually did go to the end of it,as Elon Musk put it,
"We have essentially no patents in SpaceX. Our primary long-term competition is in China," said Musk in the interview. "If we published patents, it would be farcical, because the Chinese would just use them as a recipe book."
want to make something, make sure to work with people you trust and make them sign heavy non disclosure agreement,
