Wacom tablet - Pen pressure issues

Yesterday I spent the best part of the evening trying to figure out why the Intuos 3 tablet was behaving like a proper bastard.
The problem is easily explained.
You open photoshop and create a new file: Pen pressure works. No problems. But if you open photoshop, and Open a saved file, the pressure doesn't work. and there is no way to make it work. Ever.
I've tried several soultions:
- uninstalling and reinstalling the latest driver: No change
- uninstalling the drivers and installing progressively older drivers: No change
- Change the sampling mode of the pen: No change
- Making sure that I open PS with the pen and then keep using the pen as a pointing device (known glitch): No change
- disabling the TabletPC input service on Windows: No change.Did anything like that ever happened to you?

Try changing the pen nib.

^ Classic Adobe support, works fine in other software, breaks in theirs and the response is basically "Not my problem mate"

Changed the nib as well
And reset PS preferences tooFunny thing is if I keep the Wacom control panel open I can see the pressure gauge changing, while Photoshop doesn't give a damn about it :-/

I don't have those issues using an I-5. Perhaps buy a new Intuos 5 (or borrow one). See if that is having the same issues. If the same issue occurs, then return it, then you'll know it's probably not hardware-related.
Maybe try uninstalling Photoshop and re-installing as well.
Changing the pen nib. Even if you did it once, try again with a new nib.
Disconnect Wacom from PC and install anything related to it, then reinstall all of that again. Again, making sure it's disconnected the entire time. When all that's done and done, then reconnect the Wacom.
Perhaps try going to an EARLIER version of the Wacom driver.
And finally, make sure it's set up to accept pen pressure (Brush > Shape Dynamics > Pen Pressure) and all of those other pressure sensitivity options.

Did you try just ensuring that the brush you're using in PS has pressure sensitivity enabled? It's not by default, btw. I know, it's probably a stupid question, but had to be asked.
