Saw it this weekend. Didn't really know what to expect but I thought it was great.
Brings up some really interesting points about AI and the nature of being human.A great plot that keeps you guessing, stunning cinematography (very Kubrick), set design and CGI.
Anyone else seen it? Thoughts?

No but do want to see it.
A lot of films based around these themes at the moment.

saw it last night
loved it - so dark and fucked up. the last two minutes were unnecessary though, defused the tension somewhat.

-- Possible Spoilers --
Just saw it yesterday going in and knowing nothing about it.
Good film but it's still marinating for me... There's a lot to like but something kinda bugged me throughout and I can't put my finger on it.
Perhaps it's that I can't understand his motive for why he wanted to free AVA. It's just an AI and as an engineer I think knowing that would create a constant sense of detachment, whereas it seemed he almost developed a sense of feelings for the robot.
Or maybe something bigger and more profound eluded me causing me to miss 'the point' altogether?

Saw it this weekend. Still sticking with me two days later. Great, great movie. It makes foggy concepts above the morality of creating a consciousness crystal clear and digestible. Any conscious being would want to secure its existent indefinitely and AVA was calculated in achieving it. The message is also clear, we really need to stop and think about what we're doing going down this road we're on.
@stevejobs, programmer background, or no, i think the AI was so well done, that he did develop feelings, (attachment, compassion et al). AVA manipulated him from the beginning—pressing his buttons.
Will watch again.

^ i figured that's what we were meant to believe, but i couldn't fathom his character developing feelings in those six sessions. suspension of disbelief moment for me i suppose..

Spoiler alert!
Dude gets played by a female robot.

Great movie. It makes you wonder whether something like this (AI gaining consciousness and passing Turing Test) will happen within our lifetimes. And if so, will it be treated as almost a religious event due to how we have been conditioned by popular culture etc.

I thought it was good, not great. Def worth a one time watch.
