- intelligent discussion on how Los Angeles is failing at both covid and economyhotroddy
- SF has a Napoleon complex to LA and NY, and assume being smug somehow makes them superior. It’s bizarre and something I didn’t notice until I moved away.instrmntl
- I don't think SF even thinks about LA or NY. They weren't even aware when I lived there.monospaced

TBH though I'm still looking for full time work, LA has been a good fit to live in.
I always hated living in San Francisco and felt the LA/SF rivalry was always in the hand of the south because SF has such a self-righteous cultural core that is actually just an echo of a lost generation; now it's just as financially brutal as LA but the people like, think they're good people.
In LA it's just honest, give-no-fucks America. We Will Let You Die In The Street America. Everyone seems to know it and moving along, but at least unlike SF the culture here doesn't seem to claim like it's more than what it is, which I can at least respect even in its tragedy.

- its tent city EVERYWHERE. even exciting the highway in some of the biggest cities, its leaked into neighborhoods everywhereshellie
- if there's an alley gatage behind your house 50/50 chagrin your shit will be broken into. lost a bunch that way in Santa monica.shellie
- los angeles the dirtiest, shittiest, filthy city thanks to democrats who do nothing about ithotroddy
- and their policies only seem to exacerbate the situationhotroddy
- hmmm since rep never wins in that state we can only imagine what would rep do in that situation...pango
- any of you know what would a rep do? probably incarcerate everyone.pango
- bus then somewhere else and leave them to be someone else's problem. what do you think cities like Beverly Hills and Culver City do?shellie
- that, by the way, is an atrocious solve to the problem.shellie
- Capitalism ftw! Hey hot roddy you know where you don’t see this shit? Cuba, Vietnam, China and even Venezuela!! Lolz_niko
- _niko clearly showing his ignorance.hotroddy
- get a passport and travel the world dude. it may shock you.hotroddy
- it costs in LA $500,000 for each homeless housing unit. that's how you do it in socialism! corruption and gov't kickbacks at it's finest. LA's Odebrechthotroddy
- I live in beverly hills and they don't bus them. Beverly Hills is all residential so no one will tolerate them in their backyard.hotroddy
- I've had them linger in my alley and they scurry away when I threaten to call the cops for being on private propertyhotroddy
- you know where you don't see this is in Miami. A city filled with third world people and you don't see this.hotroddy
- The wealthiest country on the planet with largest homeless population in the planet. It's called capitalism!utopian
- curious why don't you see any mexican or asian homeless people in Los Angeles?hotroddy
- Is this some sort of AI predictive footage of how the UK will look after Brexit?shapesalad
- rep would do social housing? doubt it. that sounds too socialist.pango
- hotroddy i'm just trolling you a bit with those extreme commi cases (though not really) but proper socialist countries like any of the scandinavian ones or Cana_niko
- canada have their shit together. Though maybe homelessness and cold weather aren't great bedfellows. But curious about your homeless mexican and asian comment_niko

ok weird question.... for a gift for a friend...
Anyone know a good spa/massage place in L.A...? Or some weird meditation experiential thing for a laugh? She's in silverlake area, not that it needs to be exactly near there.
- Wi Spa is a thing. https://is.gd/mCFkzx…MrAbominable

More info. There aren't political sides here. Just a problem to solve. It's crazy, I feel pity for these people but on the other hand do we want to stop the city from cleaning up the area? No cleanup means you're on your way to becoming a slum.
$430M in the budget on homelessness.
Homeowners in the neighborhoods fighting loudly to prevent shelters from being built, all but guaranteeing the problem won't get solved. They argue that it will bring more homeless people to the area, which is some crazy logic. Some aren't even arguing the financial point. They are literally arguing that solving the problem by giving these people homes will somehow create more homeless people.
- coming soon, the favelas of LA_niko
- but who's got money for their own citizens when you have $100 billion you need to spend on weapons to stop Iran from doing something or other._niko
- 100's of millions of dollars are spent on shelters and the homeless refuse to access them. You are dealing with a political class steeped in 3rd world ideology.Hayoth
- strange, we have homeless here who would rather sleep on the street in -40c weather than go to shelters._niko
- ^^ it's like that everywhere, shelters are rarely safe.spl33nidoru
- It's not LAs homeless problem. It's the USAs homeless problem. LA is big so it has services that make it easier than living in a field in Nebraska.monNom
- The solution probably looks more like bringing manufacturing back the the USA since it is so reliant on labour. Shelters just hide the problem out of sight.monNom
- Not that a shelter isn't useful. It's just not a solution to the underlying conditions that lead to homelessness in the first placemonNom
- put homeless people in empty buildings and give someone a job overseeing their living there. oh wait, that doesn't workimbecile
- They have 3/4 of a Trillion in surplus so no problem.robotron3k
