I think one of the most unfortunate surnames I've come across so far is Bastian Schweinsteiger's (FC Bayern München and German national football team).
For those of you who can't speak the local patois in Germany, 'Schweinsteiger' literally means 'pig-raiser'.

Calles and myself are distant relatives, with heritage coming from Galicia, Spain. Most of the men in our family were bullfighters and the women were (some still are) flamenco dancers.
Our last name comes from an obscure fighting technique that revolves about having sharp claws attached to your hands, made popular in the 90s thanks to videogames

I have fairly unique last name,
Since taking my last name my wife now shares the name of a famous pornstar, and we also had to do a bit of research when naming our children to make sure they weren't also pornstars names!
