Been running Beta for last few weeks. Solid upgrade.
- prophetone0
If you run Serato or other NI or music based apps then wait it out brothers. Especially if you might want these things to work.
- like it lotsa AU plugins going to DOA with this for time beingprophetone

so it's mountains now huh
- just another California locationmonospaced
- Not really. El Capitan is in Yosemite. Next would be Half Dome, i guess?Cosmodrome
- Mavericks isn't in Yosemite.monospaced
- No, but Mountain Lion is. Hmmm...Cosmodrome
- cute coincidencemonospaced
- El Capitan refinement of Yosemite. I guess if they refined Mavericks, it would have been Wave? Break?Cosmodrome
- They flat out said they moved from cats to Cali locales. It's not a mystery.monospaced
- Sorry, you're not understanding what I'm saying.Cosmodrome
- It's not "another location". It's within the same location. Because it's a refinement, not a departure.Cosmodrome
- Coolmonospaced
- oh, i know shit all about mountains or yosemite. except i watched a thing on wolves there once that was pretty cool.scarabin
- mono knows what he's talking about, guys.doesnotexist
- more of a rock formation than an actual mountain... :)PonyBoy

Download is very slow at the moment here with 300 megabits interweb. I will install it this weekend. I always do a clean install, good opportunity to clean up the mess as well.

- It took me a long time to forget that nightmare. Don't bring it back.CyBrainX

- has to be the most ludicrous naming convention ever - like a private joke...fadein11
- yeah, they should use sugar candies instead.... lol, as if names mean anything anywaymonospaced
- I don't see any restaurants either, Google shows me the location in Yosemite, followed by Apple's OS.monospaced
- lol @ sugar candies - how old are you? 5?fadein11
- yes, sugar candies... kitkat, ice cream sandwich, lollipop and marshmallow. nothing about what I said was immaturemonospaced
- just saying that tech companies often use funny names for their os releasesmonospaced
- Apple is tech company? I thought they were a design company?yurimon
- cupcake, donut, eclair, froyo, gingerbread?monospaced
- Apple is neither. They are a religious cult, duh.monospaced
- Turkish delightgilgamush
- yes I know what you are saying - it just made me chuckle hearing you say sugar candy... say it again for me please?fadein11
- FUCK YOU CANDY.monospaced

Yet another Apple update with useless bloatware, wait for Apple to fix it in a few more versions, I am sure that it will not work right the first time.
- almost everything about the update is "under the hood" for performance and there's no new apps or anything...not really bloatware in the traditional sensemonospaced
- *installs new version of OSX*
*gain 5-10GB drive space*
*calls it bloatware*face_melter - Utopian should have his own apple hate thread.inteliboy
- Yah right...no bloatware!
http://www.businessi…utopian - mono understands the, "traditional sense".doesnotexist
- and you seem to understand how to hunt down every one of my comments and say something cunty, congratsmonospaced
- yes, i understanding hunting. i also understand some other things. one of them is your complete lack of humor!doesnotexist

Ok so after about 20 minutes of use here is my informal review:
The biggest change I've noticed is going from Helvetica to San Fransisco font. SF works well on the iDevices and retina screens. On my thunderbolt it has a weird feel to it.
Split View is the only "game changer" but limited to full screen apps. Not a big deal unless you try to split any Adobe CC app. Thanks Adobe.
Some changes to spotlight.
Overall they supposedly did a lot of tweaks to make the OS faster, so this might benefit older mac's. I'll have to update my 2011 macbook once I get home.
That's about it. I looked around the internet to see if I was missing anything and two sites opened with "you can right click a file/folder, there is now a rename option". (holds up two W's next to my mouth) "WOOOOOOOOOOW"
And I guess that explains the name "El Capitan". It's not a big update in need of a location change, rather an incremental update to Yosemite.
- The built-in Finder rename is from Yosemite, not El Capitan.
El Capitan is considerably faster on a 2010 Mac Pro.evilpeacock - I'll see how it goes on my 2011 MacBook Pro - now there is supposedly TRIM support for 3rd party SSD disks - something I always had to fix with each OS update.face_melter
- Hahaha @ right-click renaming is a new "feature".nb
- Renaming has always been as easy as just regular clicking on the name. Or just pressing the Return key.monospaced
- whoa, mono, you're getting ahead of yourself.doesnotexist
- and you're trolling is becoming an issue again, honeymonospaced
- you seem to understand how the internet works, but are incapable of being ok with it.doesnotexist
- oh, i understand, and I'm okay with it, but your'e just being a complete moronmonospaced
- The built-in Finder rename is from Yosemite, not El Capitan.

I've been running the public beta on my home iMac for the last couple of months, and have had no issues with. As other said, it's not an update with big ticket items, but lots of little improvements and refinements across the board. There's no real reason *not* to upgrade.
- set0
Feel free to be apple's alpha testers. I'll wait, thanks.
- inteliboy2
Running good for me. And have extra space which is nice.
- face_melter0
I'll probably wait to put it on my main machine until I hear more from Adobe about them using Metal and any benefits it brings to CC.
It also seems the OpenGL performance is just as average as before, so no real improvement using Cinema 4D.
- monospaced0
For an update like this on a machine that's 3 years old. Is it better to run a clean install, or does one risk anything with a simple upgrade?
- hoppa743
Running like silk. More space, faster renders, CC all good, mouse pointer gets all big when I shake.
- GeorgesIV-2
guys, no one is forcing you to update,
yosemite was utter complete shit, I don't think el capitan will be different
