The Jays game yesterday was great. Is anyone else getting on this bandwagon?

Kawasaki is seriously one of the most beloved players in that clubhouse. My close friend plays for the Jays and he tells me that all the guys love that kid to death and that he's one of the most likable players on the team.
- i think joey bat flips is now most beloved and first in line would be russell martin hahajuanluisgarcia

I grew up in Canada, played baseball every year and am an obvious Jays fan. Plus, I'm in Canada for the duration of the playoffs, and it's more fun to cheer along with all my family & friends rather than against them. And it's always fun to beat the States at their own game. I'm 100% cheering for the Jays.
After that, I go Mets, because NYC is my second home these days.
Third, the Cubs, because c'mon it's the Cubs, you gotta love 'em.

There is no more undue suffering in this world than that brought on by sports. None of it matters yet it goes on. I used to be one you. I went entire seasons without missing a Mets game. I recorded news highlights so I could refer back to plays and home runs. I dreamed managerial moves and trades.
I stopped watching in 1994 during the lockout period when they cancelled the postseason. I also objected to interleague play, wild cards, expansion and the myriad elements of luck they threw into the game to dilute competition and the significance of 162 game season.
This would have killed me back in the day. Even if you're a Yankee fan the seasons ends in sadness more than 75% of the time.
- I don't mean undue suffering like a first world problem - just that the suffering is so unwarranted.CyBrainX
- C'mon man! That suffering builds character!nocomply
- I grew up in New England in the 80's when the only team worth a shit were the Celtics... then in the late 90's the Patriots woke up... then the Red Sox...PonyBoy
- ... then the Bruins... Sports-fan life went from being mad depressing to surprisingly fun (and consistent!)... now everyone hates my teams and life is good. :)PonyBoy

School closing? Have fun scrambling to reschedule appointments, parents.
- this happens often to welcome the hometown team back for a day... not uncommon... not that big a dealPonyBoy
- it's a hometown celebration that most parents I'd think would probably be in on... especially in the midwestPonyBoy
- Im new to the baseball practices. Proud to say that I'll be there at the parade.bezoar
- I think it should be optional school session is the point. Most parents? And for those that don't watch sports? Or have understanding employers or clients? SOLbezoar
- dude... it's one day for the community and the team... nearly 50 years of history and your town hasn't won in 30 years anyway... just relax and enjoy it :) <3PonyBoy
- Perhaps I overreacted. It was fun.bezoar
