Correction, last episode was 14 January in the year 2022...

This finished this Friday 14 Oct. It’s managed to pull it off from start to end (regardless of it being a shorter season due who knows what, budget constraints / pandemic, maybe both) but it’s quality over quantity.
Worth your time if you have it, it’s got more in common with the wire than erh.... StarTrek

Well thats one way of dealing with problematic cast members.
- Why was he a problem? I was quite shocked they did that.CyBrainX
- Never mind. I looked it up like a big boy.
https://www.newsweek…CyBrainX - Also, Naomi in the plunging neckline top with mesh over the belter tattoos.CyBrainX
- Felt pretty clunky but I guess they did the best that they could. I've not read the books, does it have major plot impacts for next season?thumb_screws
- As I understand it, this isn't how he goes out in the books (if at all).
I hate what Anvar did, but I'll miss his character.Continuity - I used to like his character in the earlier series but he became the least interesting of the bunch as it progressed. Found Amos much more interesting.thumb_screws

I never watch television or Netflix or any of that pish, haven't seen anything in maybe five or six years apart from The Mandalorian and have no real desire to but i'm on a severe sci-fi bent just now and thought digging into this could be worth it just to scratch that itch.
A few downloads later and I'm about midway through S3 or thereabouts and all I have to say is this:
I want Camina Drummer to step on me. All fucking day.
- Oh yeah. Drummer is awesome.Continuity
- I really warmed up to Bobby, too.Continuity
- you can have her. naomi is mine tho.hans_glib
- All three are quite fine.CyBrainX

I was getting kinda "MEH" with the Inaros/Filip/Naomi family drama, but, holy shit this last episode WAY elevated it. Great writing and acting.
Then, the ending. WOW!
Can't wait for the last 3 episodes!
- Akagiyama4
Wow, today's episode was fucking tits mcgoats! I was on the edge of my seat...and Inaros' speech amazingly showed that the right words and charisma can rally the downtrodden even after committing an unspeakable atrocity.
So far, The Expanse's season's 5th episodes have been like GoT's second to last season episodes, so really looking forward to next week!
- That cg spider robot was ace.thumb_screws
- I just wish Cas Anvar hadn’t been such a fucking creep. He’s a good actor, and I’ve always liked Alex. It really makes watching his scenes uncomfortable.Continuity

I picked up the first three books, going to dive into them this winter. Also got Three Body Problem and Dark Forest; may tackle them first.

SyFy has been decent lately.
Childhoods End was pretty good too.- I have that recorded :)monospaced
- the book was so great. I didnt even know they made a series holy molyBrokenHD
- anything by Arthur C. Clarke is so great. All Sci Fi should set the bar at that level if it was possible.CyBrainX
- Continuity0
So what sci-fi are you chaps watching during the painful seven-day wait between Expanse episodes? Anything good? Recommendations?

Syfy Says This Season of The Expanse Will Be the Last One on the Network
https://io9.gizmodo.com/syfy-say…
Idiots.
- Damn.
Well, let's hope Netflix picks it up.Continuity - Firefly again?eryx
- Haha, I was thinking the same.Continuity
- Happens every fucking time a truly great sci-fi show comes along. And this one is vastly superior to that POS Discovery.Continuity
- it's hard to say where it can go really. storyline pretty much came to an end at the end of s2hans_glib
- You know it's based on a 8 book series right?i_monk
- Is Summer Glau in this show?CyBrainX
- Is this really worth comparing to Firefly? Honest question.monospaced
- There are thematic similarities and obviously they're both set in space largely about characters on the run, but that's about it.i_monk
- it's time to close that channel.
lol@Firefly i don't think so, Expanse is dark, slow and heavy, Firefly was optimistic and easy to and consume...sted - I don't think the comparison to Firefly was meant in the creative or executional sense, more so the fact it's a popular sci-fi series being cancelled.Continuity
- Oh. I see. I was hoping the comparison was about the obvious fact that firefly was fucking amazing and was canceled prematurely, killing one of the greatestmonospaced
- potential sci fi series in decades for no truly good reason. My question was really this: is the expanse really as good as firefly?monospaced
- Apples and oranges. Firefly was a light-hearted romp with self-contained 'problem of the week' episodes. The Expanse is a dark-ish serialised thing ...Continuity
- ... which is completely different from Firefly thematically. Both are excellent in their own contexts, and can't really be compared to the other.Continuity
- That said, both employ similar a conceit, with the evolution of language being a mish-mash of all sorts of things to form a sort of patois.Continuity
- This applies to Belters, though, not Terrans or Martians (Expanse), whereas in Firefly it's used throughout.Continuity
- Damn.
