i'm not entirely sure this is worth a thread of it's own but hey ho.
the communist party in russia has got a new modern look:
Russia’s communist pantheon is getting a makeover as the party attempts to revive its fortunes ahead of parliamentary elections on Sunday.
The images, being used on campaign posters and leaflets, were designed by Igor Petrygin-Rodionov, a St Petersburg artist. He told reporters that his aim was to provide a contemporary and attractive image of the party to appeal to the younger generation.
Maxim Gorky, the Soviet writer, “wrote that when he saw Lenin without his frock coat he was surprised how developed his musculature was”, Petrygin-Rodionov explained.
“From the 1930s [Lenin’s] image becomes less and less natural. I wanted to bring him alive, show that he was handsome and educated and that’s why he was successful.
“Charisma is energy — including sexual energy. This is an image of youth, sanity, intellect. An energetic personality, maybe even a sex symbol.”
Communism is all about awful wannabe bling watches now?
