Helvetica

It's about that time when some bright spark somewhere discovers his uncle's copies of The Face and everyone goes bananas for block colour and geometry.
Then 2018, the return of Carson and Vaughan Oliver - you have been warned.

- More startup ventures with logos in gradients.,The successful ones that gets adopted by the public still continues to have the most simply flaws on their sites and the flows. But at least the 403 and 404s will still be fun to look at.
- More social justice causes tied to businesses, and most of those with customized "handwritten" logos and callouts. 75% vague not to completely alienate half the consumers.
- First completely auto-generated site design
- A small, somewhat reactionary movement of anti-design that will carry on to 2018 but not take on strong enough hold to be of significance.
- Service integration. It used to be social, but integrating services will continue to emerge. Some thanks to public release of apis by a few large companies.

VR and AR is the new platform for GUI and not the most polished interfaces will gain ground (as we've seen it before). For the current 2d displays it's inevitable to exit the boundaries of the viewport and get closer to the 360° and 3d experience as possible.
I hope that content providers will move on to richer storytelling with the help of designers (ux or wtf you name it) so that content consumption actually starts to become an experience...
- Architectural offices are pissing their pants over VR - bosses talked to me about it, having no idea whatsoever what's involved in setting it up.face_melter
- Like I have time to fucking learn Unity or Unreal on top of everything else.face_melter
- Get involved in that because architecture is one of the fields where vr grows explosively, sted
- and if you don't want to learn that find ppl. who are experts and move on to management.sted
- Yeah, we've had people demoing it in the office but our gfx dept. consists of... me. And learning 3DS Max is more important for my future prospects.face_melter
