Late to the game but I agree with Set, there are tales of the great flood from different cultures around the globe. It all sounds crazy but they all have in common the time in which it happened (around 10,000 to 12,000 years ago). And there's evidence of a big comet hitting earth around the same time, so if you connect the dots it all makes sense. Now stop being so squared minded and wake up sheeple.
And the bible is nothing but a history book, whether its content is original or not, it talks about events that happened a long time ago. Let the downvotes begin...- But I don't think anyone disputed this lol. This thread is becoming surreal. Everyone agreed and fell out.fadein11

I've said it beforehand here — the thing that most fasinates me about flood myths, etc, is how throughly they will have completely bent our historical optics.
We're mostly a littoral species, so the vast bulk of our 'modern' history has been utterly lost to us.

I'm normally the first to leap on to set and his highly-irritating manner of lolguing whatever side best fits whichever flavour narrative he woke up with that morning, but the flood myth really is the worst one to attack him for. Especially when you end up with kangaroos... :)

'Most' of our modern EuroWestAsian-centric mythos comes from the middle East, wherein we have two major seas that are scientifically 'proven' to have been affected by some massive and sudden level rises within historical bounds plausibly connectable through written and spoken histories.
Besides that, there is the further-back relationship with post-Ice Age sea level rises, which would have affected civilisations after those that built the pyramids, so feasibly with actors who woudl physically see the results of sea-level rises around their shorelines (half-submerged motes of civilisation, for instance, much like Alexandria in Egypt today).
I don't really think any of this is in significant doubt — nor, to be fair, absolutely decided upon either.
Set's problem is that he speaks in black and white terms without realising that he's not committing himself to the same alowance for vaguery that he denies his opposition. Also, sometimes, the opposite. And whatever way, with a completely undeserved insulting arrogance, which again doesn't really help dialogue.
It's frustrating, we all know.

I don't think anyone here is debating whether tsunamis or a comet hitting earth, or the ice age ever happened, It's obviously clear that the debate here is 'The Great Flood' from the bible. But set is spinning the debate as if he's the only one here on the side of science, which we all know is not the case, most of us here are science enthusiasts.
So going back to the original subject of 'if the Biblical Flood ever happened'
Set 1:17 says:

"Look! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing that breathes. Everything on earth will die.":19
"And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.": 20
"Fifteen ° cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered."is there even that much water in the clouds? the bible never said it quickly melted the ice caps, but QBN Pastor Rob cleared it up when he said "The flood waters came from gates in heaven and below the earth" so I guess that covers that.

it’s also worth mentioning that the Genesis flood story was merely adapted from an earlier Mesopotamian flood myth 'the Epic of Gilgamesh' but since it was noted by multiple cultures at multiple times, does that mean it actually happened? This evidence plus the fact that the stone inscriptions at Gobekli Tepe describe a comet impact causing a great flood at the exact same period that scientific evidence does.
You can't count on two hands the number of cultures that have stories of a flood that happened around this period.
