    • Supply and demand, innit?
      Don't like it, change career.
      Do something useful.

    • Nairn, are you defending it because you're an employer? If not why would you defend it?NBQ00
    • Imho, London needs a "bubble burst" or something. Because they pay skilled people like shit. Of course nobody has to take the jobs but still.NBQ00
    • I'm not defending anything, I'm stating how thngs are. I work with plenty of people in LDN who get paid well, doing their own thing or diversifying.Nairn
    • Believe me, I have plenty of beefs with LDN and if I could, would leave, but then I'm old and ready to take my 'skills' elsewhere.Nairn
    • I've learnt and developed more in this city than I could've in most other places. Ideally, I'd transition to being a bigger fish in a smaller pond...Nairn
    • ...but for various reasons, will remain here for a few more years yet.
      *shrug*
      Nairn
    • it just seems like a bit of a pointless, redundant set of complaints.Nairn
    • Shape, for instance, is whinging but has for whatever reason stated he's wanting to move to LDN - then why whinge? Make different choices.Nairn
    • @Nairn, lets see how you fare when aged 40, 50, 60 - have a family to support and you're trying to keep up with 20 somethings able to take a job at 25k pa.shapesalad
    • I am 40+ and I don't compete in this market any more. I made choices a decade and a half ago to diversify, when I was in my mid twenties.Nairn
    • Nairn, then it's easy for you as you don't have to participate in that market anymore.NBQ00
    • Your argument's much the same as people who whinge about outsourcing to India - and my response is the same: Don't compete in that sector.Nairn
    • Either up your game, specify your game, change your game, or play a different game entirely.Nairn
    • There's someone who posted in this thread who has a family, a home and works design IN LDN.. but does their own thing. I get the impression they get by ok..Nairn
    • NBQ00 - I 'participate' in an adjacent market and still do some web and design as takes my fancy.Nairn
    • it's just daft to whinge about a choice selection of HR-driven job specs for shitty jobs that are clearly overly competed for.Nairn
    • It's not just in the creative industry either. I know nobody is forced to live in London if doesn't meet your payment expectations but still. We can complain.NBQ00
    • What I find funny is that I have three 30-40-something friends who work in web-related fields in LDN in jobs that didn't exist even a decade ago.Nairn
    • There's plenty of well-paid work out there - if there're no Adobe-suite gigs that pay what you think they should, well, there's probably a reason for that.Nairn
    • "but still. We can complain."
haha, and there it is, and you're not wrong.

    • Yes - this is the new standard seeing it everywhere. If not the job title, the descriptions read like an encyclopaedia of design softwares and skills, for £25kshapesalad
    • "Senior, highly creative 5+ years experience, integral to the business, client facing, ux, ui, sketch, motion, print, html5 css js, central london, £25k ~ £30k"shapesalad
